looking at buying a loader tractor

Soooooo... every item on eBay that is not sold doesn't ever sell? Also, I think that there are a lot of Big 3 tractors as well as many major manufacturer cars, trucks, etc. that go unsold as well - and I'm sure that there are many that are sold too. Basically, what you're saying, is that you can't give me an instance where the seller actually lost a huge amount of money selling their relatively new non-Big 3 tractor. An unsold tractor does not mean that the seller lost money - it means that they haven't sold it yet. Similarly, why don't we see post after post after post about people who got an incredible steal on a non-Big 3 tractor? Could it be because instead of facts you are making generalizations?

And of course, you can't merely recommend a 60 hp loader tractor, regardless of any other information...but you can pick nits in other people's choices without futher information - how 'bout that. Tell you what, let's be careful so we don't only get this post closed but removed and then the original poster will never know what folks recommend. Do you think you would want to try the novel idea, like what I did, of recommending a tractor brand without degrading others?

Aren't we havin' some fun now. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I don't see the reason to get offended when some facts are pointed out about tractors. If one brand happens to be better suited to my needs than the brand I have now, I'll just buy the other brand next time. No big deal. That's the great part about this site (at least to me); to learn about other tractors than what I own. I have no interest or desire at all to try to defend a single manufacturer on every point. I've changed brands in the past, and I'm sure I will again in the future.

I did recommend three different tractor makes, plus one of the best values; putting together your own new crate tractor. And, I wasn't "nit picking" your choice, I only pointed out that your statement of not needing to know the needs and intended use of the tractor owner in order to recommend a tractor just doesn't make good sense. That is, unless your mind is already made up on one particular brand, or you're a salesman for that brand. Personally, I'm just a little more open minded. No problem, we're just a bit different on that issue.

On the eBay thing, you'll just have to figure that out on your own or ask someone else for help. I just don't have the time to explain how to look up completed auctions and see what items actually did sell for when they sold.

I just offered up a few different makes of tractors to consider based on the limited information given. Sorry that I must have hit a nerve by not listing your one favorite. But, I will agree that the prices of the late model used ones of your brand that have sold on eBay without reserve sure looked to be good deals. Depending on the original poster's needs, that could be a good buy and a good fit. But, with the information available, I'm just not smart enough to say for sure.

The only problem with the "facts" that you continue to point out is that they are not really facts, but your opinions based upon your observations (believe it or not, the world neither ends nor revolves around eBay).

You know, I picked out a couple of different tractors too - but I didn't try to degrade other brands of tractors or say "The Big 3 cost too much" - why? Because the guy just asked what 60 hp tractor I would recommend - not which ones I wouldn't.

I'm not trying to defend Kioti, or any other brand on every point, it's just that I repeatedly see, from yourself and others, about their awful resale, yet we continually see no evidence of people getting hellacious deals on used non-Big 3 tractors. Why? Maybe it's a myth, maybe not, but not much proof as such - just "open minded" folks like yourself that like spread second-hand information about brands you've not owned or operated.

I understand the eBay thing - maybe you don't understand the non-eBay things! I've looked up many completed auctions to judge what a fair price is for an item that I am currently bidding on - I guess I didn't give you enough information and you put me in the category of people who can't work eBay and can't pick out what size tractor they need without tractorbynet's permission. I still don't get why you can't give a recommendation on a 60 hp tractor for loader use without more information - it's not like its a life or death questions and the tractorbynet commandos will raid your house for giving somebody bad advice.

Hey guys, come on, it's confusing enough to do some tractor shopping or research without having to deal with this crap. I know, I've been through it myself, and the only thing this does is create more confusion. I'm not pointing fingers to this particular post, it just seems to be going on and on.. This takes over the original post wouldn't you agree? Ander26 here is my suggestion...I would suggest the kioti because the brand sells more in the Maritimes then anywhere else in Canada, so kioti must be doing something right down east, MF, JD, NH, KUB, are all brands that I would seriously look at in your tractor search, one thing that's very important and that's the DEALER don't hesitate to ask questions...cag

Dude - you're right. We pretty much hijacked this thread. Good job of reigning us in (and I'm not saying that just because of your recommendation either). It is kind of going on and on....but Dargo started it!!!

I'll stick with my recommendations of Kioti DK 55/65 or Mahindra 5500/6500, based on my experience of quality tractor for the dollar spent, at least in my area.

Just a thought, but tractors over 40 hp are independantly tested to be legal to sell in the State of Nebraska, commonly referred to as the Nebraska Tests. The state of Nebraska instituted the law to keep tractor companies honest because many owners were complaining that they were not getting what was promised.

The companies who participate in the Nebraska Tests include (this list may not be complete):
Case
Deere
McCormmick
Massey Ferguson
New Holland

My understing is the companies who do NOT participate include:
Branson
Century
Kioti
Kubota
Mahindra

So you might want to consider, that if you are looking for a tractor at roughly 60hp, what do the companies have to hide that are not participating in the Nebraska tests?

Now take things another step or two forward and seriously look at how the tractor companies rate their loaders. As you stated you are looking for a "loader" tractor, it probably makes sense to seriously consider how loaders are rated by the manufacturers. So go to their marketing materials and see HOW HONESTLY they rate their capacities . . . specifically do they publish the inflated and unrealistic "pivot point" capacities or do they publish the more accurate 500mm forward of the pivot point numbers (which actually is about 30% or more LOWER, but is much more realistic)?

Just a couple thoughts you might want to consider.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I have priced several different brands and I think I have narrowed it down to Kubota,Massey and New Holland. I am now just looking at which one can offer the best loader and Hp for the money.

Look at the Case JX 75 (pto 60hp). You get a lot of tractor and loader for the money.

Not sure what you need this tractor for but if its primarily an earth mover, I'd look into a used tractor backhoe like a Case 580. They're relativly cheap, plentiful, about the same hp range (older non turbo models) and are very capable.
