Nope...he said that Kioti has not had very much feedback from owners, etc. I thusly mentioned the Kioti & Bobcat sections of the forum.

You might want to take a close look at general ruggedness. The drawbar on at least some LS tractors is not fastened well. The bracket that holds it to the tractor has been reported to fail. Not a problem on the Mahindra. There may be other such inadequacies that will show when they are worked hard.

Oh god I better put my U5030C up for sell. A bracket broke somewhere in the world and my tractor as is should be melted down and made a different color.

OK OK, I'll come take it off your hands.

While I agree with a lot of what's been said reference a tractors ability to pull under normal circumstances, without witnessing what happened and under what loads exactly I'd be hesitant to condemn any make of tractor for poor engineering based solely on a single post.

You should probably just bury it. Probably not safe to trailer either.

Solinski, since you are in Redding, have you checked out both LS's and Mahindra's West coast distributors. I am curious what your thoughts are regarding both manufacturers.

Hi MtnViewRanch,:) I have visited both Mahindra's and LS's West Coast distributors on several occasions. Both dealers have been very patient and have gone out of there way to answer my endless barrage of questions both in person and by e-mail. I would be very comfortable purchasing a new tractor from either one. Mahindra 3016 Gear shuttle shift with FEL is the last 2011 and is priced at $13,950. LS G3033 with FEL new price for 2012 is $13,695. I have used  for significant plus and :( for significant minus. I am no tractor expert and have very little tractor experience. Here are the details and significant features my wife and I see as important: LS G3033 :thumbsup:Bucket, loader, and bracing seem more robust than Manhindra 3016 set up. LS G3033 engine is :(LS branded :thumbsup:116.5 cu.in. Mahindra 3016 has :thumbsup:Mitubishi branded :(80.4 cu.in. (Note: I do not rely on horsepower ratings since there is no real standard that I know of? For example I looked at a Husqvara YTH21K46 riding mower with 597 cc.engine which is rated at 21 hp.!:confused2: ) LS G3033 has :thumbsup:quick release bucket and grill guard. Mahindra 3016 :(no quick release bucket and no grill guard. LS has larger rear tires than Mahindra. LS transmission is :thumbsup:12 spd. Mahindra is 8 spd. LS total pump capacity is 11.9gpm and Mahindra is 11.2gpm. LS has a :(tiny digital tach,Mahindra has a very nice large :thumbsup:analog tach. Mahindra has :thumbsup:folding ROP, LS non :(folding ROP. Mahindra rear differential has end of axle bearing setup, LS does not. Mahindra 3 point lift :thumbsup:capacity 2,238 lbs. LS is 1808 lbs. LS has rear :thumbsup:mounted fuel tank, Mahindra has front mounted. The LS G3033 is currently my choice for 3 reasons listed in order of importance: #1. My wife prefers the LS. # 2. LS has larger cubic inch engine. #3. LS transmission is 12 speeds. Mahindra dealer has a very long and :thumbsup:highly rated reputation. LS dealer has a relatively short history compared to Mahindra dealer. Pricing is very close. Warranty very close. I have never purchased from either dealership so I have no idea of how after the sale support will be. This will be my first new tractor. I Hope this helps! Let me know if there is more you would like to know? Solinski

Tractors look to be close. 12 speed trans is a plus IMO, but would be good to actually compare speeds at each gear. There should be speeds shown someplace. If the lowest speed and the highest speed are the same, then the 12 speed has the advantage, but if the extra 4 speeds are either faster or slower, then I don't know how much good that they would actually be. Does the LS have any rear remotes? Are remotes an option?

As far as Dave's tractor, you would be hard pressed to find a better guy and dealer. He is my dealer and it is right at 650 miles from my driveway to his.

I always appreciate the kind words!

I think Solinski has fallen into the same trap I do occasionally. It's called analysis paralysis. I did it with a hotrod car I bought last year. I was starting to drive everyone around me nuts. Seriously, it was getting out of hand. I looked for 6 months, studied everything. My kind and patient wife finally gave me the "just get one and quit shopping" look. So I obliged, and now I have my life back. ;)

I think a good idea is to shop and learn, but at a certain point get in the seat and test drive the top two or three units and make a choice. Because at that point of the learning process, you can't hardly make a bad decision. You have ruled out all the units that really do not appeal to you. Because the ergonomics of a unit are important, and hard to quantify, you need to see what is a good fit for you. A 6' 225lb guy will find a tractor comfortable that a slim 5'8" gal might find uncomfortable. You will want to really like the controls, because your hands are constantly on them. You want it to shift smoothly and easily, you want a dash that is easy to read and has adequate into. You may prefer the LS, some do. You may prefer the Mahindra. Then ditch the spreadsheet and enjoy what you bought, whatever color that may be.

And Solinski is right, good used late model 4x4 tractors are fast movers in this area. Last Friday we got a 3316 4x4 TLB in trade and it sold the same day. My son will soon list his JD870 (was a trade-in at one point) and I bet he sells it within 48 hours. Of course to do this, prices have to be reasonable for the area.
