Hey folks, I'm hoping to join the scut club some time in the next few weeks.

I've pretty much narrowed down my search to the Massey GC1705. Looking at probably buying from Bruno's, no local dealer can touch the price, then there's the issue of sales tax - almost 10% here. Price I'm getting quoted is 11,717 for the 1705 with skid steer QA. We're doing cash plus standard finance rates. Will probably buy a MMM locally, Bruno's is actually high on those.

In my constant search to maybe save a few bucks I ran across a 2017 GC1715, 117 hours, for $10,500 (no ssqa). Now if it was a 1705 it would be a no brainer to get the new one for only $700 more, but it is worth considering since its the 1715?

This will be a general use machine for maintaining my 3 acres. I'll be mowing, doing loader and blade work moving dirt for landscaping, probably tilling a garden if I get to it, snow cleanup in the winter, etc.

No difference other than 2 HP more. For only $700 more.... I would still go with the new one. Since your dealing with Bruno's, look into the LS MT122 or 125 also, those MMM might be cheaper.

Keep in mind the new GC has some changes that the older ones don't.

I really liked the changes they made from 1705 to 1723, but they are really just cosmetic changes. Mainly, the loader control lever is moved to the right fender area by your right leg. The bones of the tractor are the same. Once the 1723's start hitting all the dealerships, i would think deals could be had on the 1705

It has some functional changes, SSQA, tilt wheel, side loader control, flatter deck and a few other things that make it more desirable than my GC1705 IMO..

It's been a few years of nagging my better half to even allow me to pull the trigger, so I've got to get the best deal possible. The changes for the 1723 and 1725 are not must-haves for me, and with the slight price increase I'm hoping to snag up a 2018 if I go new.

Mostly I'm just kind of waffling about whether that extra 2hp will even do any good - ie better at running a tiller, box blade breaking up clay, etc. The one thing that I actually do like about the 1715 is the arm rest.

I guess I'm just an indecisive SOB.

If you were closer I have mine for sale. The extra 2hp doesn't make a whole lot of difference.. Arm rests are nice..
