I've had my 4110 for over 2 years and have some observations as well. Before I start, let me point out that I have in the past stated out on TBN that the 4110 is far from perfect, so no, I do not let "brand loyalty" get in the way of my objective opinion.
With regards to Ken's observances, I have a much different take on most of the points he makes. Kindof figured it might be useful to give my $.02 on the same areas (plus a couple of others.) 'Course a lot of this stuff is very subjective, so it isn't so much that Ken is "wrong" - just that I have a different opinion than him based on my experiences.
Noise: Yea, the 4110 is kindof noisy due to the RPM required to stay in the proper torque band. 'Course most tractors have some degree of noise, you just have to figure out what is objectionable for you. Personally I wear ear plugs whenever I run my tractor. Doing this I have no issue with the volume.
Exhaust: I do not have this problem whatsoever as the exhaust is pointed away from the driver.
Trans: I use a variety of implements on a regular basis (cutter, box blade, spreader, landscape rake, disc, harrow, etc.) I find the 12 speeds very useful and have never been unable to find a "perfect" speed by tweaking the RPM's just a little bit.
Seat: Fine for me - good view EXCEPT for over the hood. Takes some getting used to. The real problem is not the seat but how far out the hood goes. You'd have much better visibility if it had a sharper slope and had a lower overall height. The Kioti or the New Holland are examples of hoods that offer much better FEL visibility.
FEL(ML112): Adequate. Lighter duty than some, but fine for general work. Have yet to bend/damage it. Speed is fine for my uses. I think that one problem people have is they think that FEL’s are dozer blades and they use them as such. They aren’t. I use a dozer for my dozer work (clearing mesquite, road cutting, etc.) and my tractor for tractor work. I have used my FEL for both digging and moving materials (dirt, rocks.) The biggest gripe I have with the FEL is the arm arch design - it is a real impediment to visibility. Other mfgs. have much better designs for their arms which eliminate this issue.
Backhoe: I don’t own one nor have I operated one on my tractor so I do not feel that it is fair for me to comment on them - positively or negatively.
Fit/Finish: As good as any tractor out there. I have not have any problems with rust anywhere on the tractor nor with the paint. My tractor is stored under a tarp canopy, so while it does get some protection, it does not get as much as an enclosed shelter. My tractor "cleans up" well.
Fuel Tank: As Ken said, a royal pain to fill with a 5 gal jug. I use a siphon setup which helps a lot. Also, due to the pre-filter for filling and lack of a good vent setup, you have to fill it slowly or you can get quite a bit of "splashback." I hate this aspect and it has caused more than a drop or two of diesel to get on me and the rest of the tractor.
Documentation/Owners manual: Ok. A little light, but I found it adequate. Has all the important stuff in there and basic procedures. A little more detail on a few things would be nice and to have it a little more current (e.g. the API specs for oil), but overall, Ok.
Lights: The FEL gets in the way quite a bit and they should have a better lens/bulb arrangement, IMO. I added 2 supplemental lights on my canopy which solved this problem.
Price: For what you get, I think it is a very good price and for me and my uses, it and the Kioti line are at the top of my list as far as the "value equation" is concerned.
PTO: My biggest beef with the tractor. They use a solenoid to engage the PTO. e.g. You flip a switch and the PTO engages, you flip it the other way, it turns off. The first one on the tractor froze up and had to be replaced. (under warranty). The second one is starting to have problems and if I can’t figure a way to "fix" it, it will cost about $500 to fix. (no more warranty left) I see this as a major design flaw with the tractor. I believe failure is heat related and I’m unaware if it has been addressed on current production 4110’s, although Mahindra is aware of the issue (spoke with them in Houston.)
Radiator: All tractors have radiators that get clogged with junk from mowing and such and need cleaning out, the issue I have is that due to some of the supports and other stuff under the hood, it seems more difficult than it needs to be. I use compressed air on a wand to clean mine, but to get a good cleaning I have to take off both sides of the engine compartment (granted, not THAT big a deal) to get to everything, and then it is still less than an ideal situation.
Overall, this little tractor has done pretty much everything I’ve thrown at it. Again, the one major problem in my mind is the PTO solenoid setup. I wish Mahindra had not done it the way they did and sure hope it has been resolved in current production tractors. This is the only real drawback I see - otherwise I think it is a good tractor at a good price. If I were to do it all over again, I might look a little harder at the Kioti DK40 - but only because of the PTO solenoid problems I've had on my 4110.
