Looking at YM1700 this Weekend - What Issues Should ILlook For?

5 ft blades are near universal because that's the size for the old Ford tractors 1939~'50's and everybody had one. But an 8N has a half ton more weight and 27 hp.

Our Yanmars are like a 3/4 scale version of the Fords. So ground-engaging implements need to be scaled down proportionally.

Gotcha. I will keep an eye out for a 4' blade.

Thanks. What I am seeing for sale, used, locally are only 5' blades. I will keep an eye out - there isn't a huge rush since the drive way is in pretty good shape.

Next, looking at plows. Is a two blade plow Okay for this YM1700? I only have to plant existing food plots and maybe a small garden.

I take care of my equipment, so I don't want to over-work this tractor.

I have a 4ft box and it's perfect. It will pull with all the rippers down and can pull a pretty full box but I admit never pulled a box full of gravel or crusher run where it's spilling out the top, to say but I feel my ym2000 which is the same as the ym240 could pull it.

I've been using a 4Ft. BB for just over 10Yrs.. With my rear wheels reversed it's the same width as the 2000's rear end Displacement. Works great without having to look behind you not to catch it on anything. I have quite a few hundred feet of crush in run for my driveway and with Org. Rice lug Bridgestone's It takes a lot to get it stuck. Once it make a pass with the rippers lowered to loosen it up there's not much to it. I am so glad I used Gemplers Reliners to be able to keep them. Not the first complaint!!
