About 6 mos ago, I sold my L4630 with GST. I wasnt using the tractor much and it was a lot of cash sitting in the garage. Since then, I have acquired 29 acres and am needing a machine to use on the property. Back half of the property is wooded, front pasture. initial use will be keeping the place clean and the woods cleared beneath the canopy, but i also plan on haying the front pasture. I know i won't be pulling a large round bailer with the tractor, but was thinking this would be a great blend of power, mobility, function and cost to do everything. Please chime in and let me know your thoughts, and also if anyone has an inside line on a machine for sale, let me know!

thanks

That series of Kubota L's was something of a classic. Owners say it was beautifully engineered and overbuilt, overkill for a non-industrial type machine. If you can find one that has been well cared for and not beaten up or worn out, it should last a lifetime. There are some owners here on TBN with a lot of knowledge about the series. If you search the Kubota Owning/Operating section, you may also find some discussion threads. Best of luck in your search.

Thank you for the welcome! I've been lurking for over a year, but felt this was the right time to seek some help in my search. I know the L5450 is growing harder to find everyday, so I thought I'd ask those in the know for direction. I have been reading posts about this model which has ultimately lead me to my decision to buy one. It seems like a truly great machine!

One machine I have found that I have some interest in. L5450 w/LA1150a and the matching Kubota backhoe. based on the initial photos i've seen, tractor looks to have been taken good care of even though it currently has around 2000hrs. The machine is in Rochester NY, and the seller is looking to get $18k for the machine. I don't have much use for a backhoe, although I'm sure if I owned one I could come up with several uses. But the price is higher than I'd like to spend. thoughts?

Based on what I've seen over the past few years, $18k sounds like it could be a good deal - depending on tractor condition and the actual backhoe model. The matching Kubota L5412 backhoe was made by Bradco. Last year there was a L5450 with this setup listed for sale in New England with asking price of $24k.

If you buy the whole rig you can maybe sell the backhoe to someone with a compatible tractor. Maybe $4-5k if the subframe & hydraulic tap was included. Ask the seller for the original loader frame lower rails if they still exist. They become surplus when the bh subframe is installed by the dealer. Good luck - Dick B

EDIT - Sent you a PM

Thanks for the reply. I will certainly look harder at this model. I imagine if I buy it, I will come up with something for the back hoe!

I have no PM at this time FYI.

Thanks
Corey

Hello. I have an L1150A loader for that L5450 tractor you're looking for. Asking $2400. If you find a good tractor without the loader, might just be your ticket. Its in great shape and complete.
