Looking for a Kubota V1505-T engine

For mine the comp ratio is the same, part #s are the same for the internals between the 2. The injector pump is the same, the timing is adjusted with shims.
Nozzles are different, I'll look again but I believe the part #s are the same for cams, they don't post specs.
Heads are the same.

The V series might be different but this is what I found for my D series.

The project isn't really moving at the moment, once I get to it I'll post up the progress.

To take advantage of any "coolness factor" I would probably need to add "flames" to the body work some where. :)

Ya, I'm not going to be enter into any tractor pulling contests and the added hp isn't going to make this tractor go any faster. However, I think the usable gain would be associated with increase PTO HP. Current rating is ~ 23hp. If I was to drop the whole engine in the tractor then PTO hp might go close to 30 hp and that would be very noticeable. That's the part where I worry about margin in the Kubota tractor. I could drive a bigger tiller, bush hog mower and finish mower or snow blower. But at the same time would I greatly increase my propensity to break something on the tractor?

Decisions, decisions.

It looks like the successor model to your B3000 is a B3350, which has a turbo V1505, although it appears to be de-rated vs. your replacement V1505T. That may be the impact of the tractor installation, with hydraulic pumps, etc. added. Maybe someone with more knowledge about these engines than me would have better advice about a swap like this.

Beyond that, bigger 3 point implements are heavier in proportion to their size. So, even though an upgrade might theoretically enable the tractor to drive a 6 ft. brush cutter instead of a 4 or 5 ft., the larger dimensions could be a lot for that size tractor to handle. You'd probably be tail-heavy, with potential safety issues on slopes, turns, rough ground, etc. Adding more weight in front would help, but it's really not the greatest solution because you're still operating a shorter, narrower tractor. Whatever productivity gain you'd achieve with the bigger implement could be compromised by having to operate more carefully and slowly to stay safe. And at some point, you are truly using too much implement for too small a tractor with the potential for damage.

I use a chipper and other implements that are within the weight capacity of the tractor but can use a little more power. Turbos also increase the efficiency and if you're at higher altitudes are almost a requirement.

The modern common rail in the B3350 isn't fully comparable to the older v1505 as they can program the power level pretty easily with the ecm.

With the low hours that are on that engine I would swap it out if everything matches up.

I agree... after my earlier post I had been thinking about a stationary application - a PTO operated electric generator came to mind - where added hp would be useful. Chipper would be similar. Different scenario from hanging upsized cutters, tillers, other ground engaging implements behind a small platform tractor.

Does this engine have a full range governor or is it a constant rpm governor for a generator?

I live at 3000 feet ASL so in theory I have already lost 10% of the V1505 rated power. Installing the turbo will eliminate all altitude losses.

The V1505T engine drove a 24 volt gear driven generator (some kind of military application) so If I install the engine (rather than just mine some key parts from it) I'll have to convert the engine to run on 12v (replace starter, alternator, fuel shutoff solenoid, glow plugs, ???).

I don't know much about governors but if I was guessing it is probably constant speed. I have seen the engine run and as soon as you started it the speed was at a preset rpm and didn't change.

If it is a constant speed governor then that is something else that I would have to change out.

Switching out the electrical is easy since your parts from the original engine should be a bolt on.

Yours could be different but other stationary kubota engines I've seen use the standard governer just adjusted to the desired rpm. Might just require adjusting the speed screw on the injector pump throttle lever.
Being military it could be spec'd different but in general Kubota seems to like to keep things the same as much as possible.

I'm looking for a V1505 turbo charged engine in good running condition and less than 2500 hours. Engine needs to be complete and in current running condition.

Not interested in newer vintage engine that is Tier 4 compatible.

HP rating in the range of 36 to 42hp.

Let me know if you have one to sell or know where I might locate one.

I have an older 1505 still in a Jacobsen mower, $2500 for the whole thing. Engine starts up immediately after sitting for 6 months. 2500 hours. looks like new Can hear it run and drive it around. Michigan 48472 phone 989 635 7950

I've already got one that had only 138 hours on so I'm not looking at this time.

You might post it for sale on this forum or the OTT forum. I've even seen Kubota engines for sale on Ebay.

Good luck with it.
