Very true. Tires are half the battle. You need a tire that cleans out well whether it's snow, mud, or even sand. I laugh when I see a capable 4x4 riding on 22in. rims w low profile street tires. This will do nothing in mud or snow. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=361415"/> This will (BFG KM2's)

What a waste of a good wrangler.

I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Overland, trail rated, with the air suspension. If you want more ground clearance…..simply hit the button and raise it up about 5" to gain height. With the right tires…..these go thru the snow…..allthough the new models do not have a front locker. Supposedly the electronic traction control does the deed up front. (or not) I just rolled over 100,000 miles on my Hemi engine. The towing capacity was a prime consideration for my needs (boat and tractor).

My wife drives a newer grand also (without air ride) and it is surprising the places it will go and it still has the factory tires, with some good meats it would go almost anywhere.

thanks you guys are right i did throw Jeep under the bus to quickly. I have found a few lower mileage Grand Cherokees in my area and i know they will last me over 300,000 kms.

Side note, I live on a gravel road that didn't get plowed after the 6 inches of snow that fell last night. Today I was driving down the middle of the road like we all do until I saw another truck coming the other way. I figured I would be nice and moved way over to the right in the deep snow. Well the ditch was closer than I thought and I got sucked into it. I didn't get stuck but I did get temporarily delayed ... so to speak.

I tried backing up and going forward a few times. Couldn't quite get back up on the road. So after a few choice words under my breath, I put it in 4 Low. Backed up about 20 feet and then drove right out.

Yah, that was nice. :)

I don't think the 4.0L engines were ever a problem nor the transmissions. I have heard of V8 issues, but not all

Right. It might go up a steep concrete driveway but that is about it.

With the gallon of tire shine they used on the Jeep in the pic, I doubt it would even do that.
