I am looking around to buy a new tractor. I will be buying 100 hectors of land in Zambia, Africa. Kindly advise on the size i should be looking at, cost not being a factor.

You will get better advice if you can describe what tasks you want to do and how much of that land will be managed with the tractor. 240 odd square miles is a lot to mow with a single tractor.

My suggestion would be 80-120 hp, with a loader, and a cab if you have access to air conditioning repair(a cab with no air conditioning is awful).

I agree that it would be helpful to know the tasks needed and some information on your land. I agree with a prior poster I would be looking at a minimum of a good sized tractor in the over 80 HP category.

I'll just add the question regarding the support you'd expect to have in Zambia. A very quick search pulled up MF and Mahindra operations in that country but no idea what that actually means.

Are you looking for new or used? Either way, I suppose, you'll need some source of parts and help for it so that's probably the best place to start and then work your way back from that.

Thank you for all the responses. The land is mostly virgin , so will need to clear and cultivate the first 100 acres into farm land i.e. corn field.

The second phase will clear another 100 acres for the construction of a Piggery, Chicken Houses and Fish ponds. MF = Massey Ferguson I believe and Mahindra is an Indian Tractor Company.

Zambia may be warm, but not humid and thus no need for a cab in most cases. The heat is much bearable than the heat in the USA.

As in trees, brush, grassland, combination, tree size?

Some will require heavier equipment than a tractor while some may not. In my area a dozer is required to clear land.

While the heat may be less, you'll still be churning up dust when you start cultivating. Especially if you're going to do a lot of it in crops or hay. Sure makes for nice days on the machine when you have that cab.
