Looking for a tractor

I have a 9n, and will admit that it is a lousy loader tractor. Weak front end, high gearing, poor built in hydraulics. The original Dearborn loaders were intended for scooping feed and manure, not heavy dirt etc. And they are very slow, gravity down, trip bucket.

So for a cheap loader tractor, I would focus on IH/Farmall, or a newer Ford with power steering. I often see IH Utility tractors in good running shape with loader for $4,000 or so.

Oliver 550 comes to mind as a good utility tractor with good design and worthy of repair and investment. Is a good workhorse when handling a FEL.

Thanks for the advice guys, I have been leaning towards an International. Don't really see a lot of olivers around here. While the Ford N series are about the size I want. More often than not thay are pricey.. collectors, I guess.

rmorency's Ford is a very nice looking tractor, if anyone is looking for a Ford. I need a fully hydraulic loader his has a trip bucket.

The difference between a trip loader and a fully hyd loader is onl a d/a cylinder, and some spool valving.. assuming the pump capacity is there. ( belly pump, or stinger pump.. etc. )
