Till I discovered I would have to move up to the next PT to get the Boom mower attachment.
Bumping up to that PT jumps the cost by another 2000 dollars for a total of $8710 which is only 290 bucks less than the kubota set up.

When did a boom mower become part of the requirement? It wasn't specified as a requirement for the Kubota... Where's the boom mower for it?

BTw, keep in mind that you typically get just about what you pay for...

I didn't know a PT boom mower was available till I checked out the PT site.
This was after I started this thread.

If you didn't know one was available for the larger PTs, then how does the fact that one is NOT available for the smallest PT effect the decision???

You're disqualifying it for not doing something you never even thought it would do in the first place -- nor will the other tractors you're considering....

It effects it because it jacks the base price up to the same 9000 dollar range as the kubota.

I don't want to sped 9000 bucks for either the kubota or the PT

I would like to beat the 9000 by a lot more than 300 bucks.

Had I been able to get the 180 with the option of the boom mower
for the same or less than the Kubota it would have been tempting.
A lower price and a boom mower thrown in on the deal would have been hard to turn down.

Maybe I'm missing something here; that's what I get for jumping into a thread I've only followed loosely. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But to me it seems like the determining factor might be whether the boom mower is a necessity [from what I think you're saying it's more of a "niceity"].

Anyway if so, then $9K on the PT get's you something most machines don't have. If not then the $6K 180 still sounds good.....unless you have a lot of tasks where you'd prefer 3pt, then you're back to the straight tractor anyway.

Well, mostly babbling aloud /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But, I didn't quite see the quandry /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Exactly... a PT without the boom mower is $3000 less, and one capable of using the boom mower is $300 less...

Either way, the PT beats the Kubota on price -- not that I'm suggesting price should be the only consideration -- but the title of this whole topic is about beating a price....

Seems to me that two different PTs can do that that...

Cripes, seems like someones got an acute case of tractoritis /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A BX23, 2 bolensi, and you want another! Whats up with what you got? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

As to the boom mower, lets compare apples to apples, whats the price of a Kubota with a boom mower compared to the price of a PT with boom mower, I think overall the PT is way cheaper than the Kubota. Besides, if you already have a compact why get another of the same, have variation man, decide whats you favourite and let the wife use the other one. Theres no point in having 2 20 horsepower tractors when neither is quite big enough for some tasks or small enough for others, see what im getting at here /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Get 1 10HP and 1 30HP.

Either way, have fun shopping, but get what you need not whats the cheapest of youll surely be disappointed. Trust me, ive done that many a time and I never learn /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I sell all those tractors and buy a PT425 with a mini-hoe and all the other attachments that you need. That way, you only have one engine to maintain and one tractor to store. If a mini-hoe won't do the job, rent a small, tracked excavator one weekend a year and do all your backhoe jobs in two days. They are much better at back hoe'ing than the little backhoes on the small CUTs anyway. That's my opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you talk him into trading everthing for a PT /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, I still love the sweet sounding diesel in that 2445. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Of course, I suppose the 425 out-manuvers it enough that he just wouldn't be able to appreciate morePOWER! Arrr ARR ARRR /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK testosterone cleared...I now return you to your regulary scheduled thread. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
