Looking for a zero turn.

Get a well made mower and you will not regret it. I have a 20 year old hustler fastrack Z and this season was the only time I need to do anything to it (not counting tire repair). It needed spindle bearings on the mower deck, which were easy to replace and didn't cost much. Look for the thickness of the deck, welded is good, stamped does not need to even get a look over

The John Deere 7 iron is known to be a very good stamped deck.

Not sure about that. I just bought a F725 that came with a spare complete mower. Both decks were crapped out. The guy said he had a third deck in good condition he was going to have to locate so I took him at his word. The third deck turned out to be off a lawn tractor or zero turn but is heavier and in better shape than either of the 725 decks. I ended up cutting the gearbox and hanging mounts off the worst deck and welding them on to the good deck. Took some creative modifications but I made it work.

And it uses a 7 Iron deck ??

I know people bad mouth stamped decks but I grew up with a Craftsman mower with a stamped deck. My dad just replaced it two years ago when the engine failed after 29 years. The deck was still solid and we never had to replace anything but a belt. In my experience, a stamped deck has better airflow. No 90 degree corners and angles to collect grass under the deck. I have always scraped my decks after each use (OCD), and my stamped decks have always been cleaner than my welded decks.

Find a used commerical zero turn mower. You will be much further ahead. And cutting times will probably be cut in half.

The newer stamped decks are MUCH heavier than they ues to be. I would still prefer a flat fabricated deck.

I’ve seen some new stamped decks that are really lousy. There’s nothing wrong with a good stamped deck and as mentioned have better airflow.

I guess I need to research every model mentioned before I reply. Had never seen or heard of the 7 IRON so I assumed wrong. That 7 iron deck is one beefy looking piece of metal.

I still don't understand why they set the spindle assemblies in a depression that will hold dirt and water. I built a deck of my own for a pull behind mower and made it flat top and rear discharge. The quality of the cut is every bit as good any other mower I've owned.
