I believe all decks the JD makes are stamped decks. Just understand that the gage metal craftsman use is what make their decks suck not because it is a stamped deck. The 7 iron deck that JD uses is a stamped deck put pressed out with a 100 ton press. the D100's series are the cheaper JD mowers and the 'X" series are the real JD mowers built in Illinois.

Stamped decks are fine if made right and it is an expensive process which requires a high volume of parts to come out on. If you can't sell enough product the cost of the set up for stamping may be to costly. Deere has the volume advantage over some other brands here.

I don't see a welded deck or a stamped deck as being better by the process alone. A good quality well designed deck is the key whether it is stamped or welded up from pieces.

700 isn't much budget for a used JD, if you can find one it's not gonna be in very good shape.

I paid $800 for my 24hp 54in deck Husqvarna off Craigslist, buying used is always hit or miss, it's all about maintenance history.

One thing about the JD 110 and 111 is the smaller fuel tanks, but there's a big following for them and you can still get parts.

I'm not very familiar with the GT262 TractorData.com John Deere GT262 tractor information

Looks like a decent mower.

The big mower decks for the X7xx series were presses with a 2000 ton press in Horicon, Wisconsin and the 200-700 series tractors are made there also, unless they just moved them.

10-4 on the 2000 ton press I could be wrong, but doesn't the "X" series mower have a plate that said built in Moline Illinois?
