I am wondering about the ck30. I am very interested in the ck25 gear transmission. My dealer explained that with the gear trans, you pay a good deal less than hst and also you get better 'control' of tractor- ie that in low gear you will simply spin tires if the load is too heavy instead of the tactor stopping. (sorry i may be explaining this wrong). Anyway, I have heard from posts on here that the ck25 is too heavy for a 25 hp tractor and that you should either go with ck20 or jump to a 30. How much more money is involved by jumping from ck25 gst up to ck30 gst?

Personally, I have not heard or read any of the CK25 "actual owner" accounts say, the ck25 is too heavy for a 25 hp tractor . You could say more power is always better, but then we love to spend other peoples money too.

It really depends on the tasks at hand and how you plan to use the tractor.

Well said Don.
We have sold a few CK25's HST and gear. No complaints yet. With the 3 range Hydro the HST's will be hard to stop. The CK25 gear won't do things as fast as a CK30 gear, but that gets back into a "size" issue. The bigger frame/more HP you have the more work you can do in a given time. Remember the alot of older tractors had relatively low HP for their size.
What are your planned uses for the tractor?

Well, the 3030 was not around when I shopped last Fall, but after I decided on hydrostat I narrowed mine down to the JD 4310, the CK30 and the L3130 as after operating these three (actually the dealer only had the CK25 on hand but I only considered the CK30 at the time) and talking to the dealers I came to the conclusion they were the models closest to each other from their respective brands, especially in the combo of horsepower, weight, hydraulics and loader specs.

When I started shopping I intended to go with a gear, and the DK models from Kioti were in play, but because they didn't offer hydro I didn't think to compare them to the L3130.

Again, these were just my opinions after operating a lot tractors last Fall.

My dealer has been selling more CK25's then 30's simply because,as he says, the 25's are $2,000 less. That's enough to buy a few extra toys for your new tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The price difference I was quoted was $1250 between the two Kioti tractors, but I was told the CK30 would go a foot larger on the bush hog and box blade due to the added hp. Until you try them in your property conditions, it is hard to know for certain.

That difference alone is actually huge if you plan on using those implements often. Being able to do 20% more work in the same amount of time is huge. Of course, if you are doing mainly loader or backhoe work, its a non issue.
