Looking for first tractor. Overwhelmed and a little lost

I found a Kubota l3350 with backhoe and loader. The price is right and it seems to fit the bill for what I need. Any thing I should know before pulling the trigger on this?

Those were well respected machines. As long as the hours aren't high and the rubber and hoses are good etc. It should do. I almost bought two before I bought my M4700. The guy had bought them from the county but both had rotting tires, frayed hoses, and looked like they were sat out in the sun and rain their entire life.

Do you find that you are short hp in all operations or are there specific tasks you are feeling a need for more? Sounds like you might be getting into CTL territory with a need for more hp and compact size.

Only times I run short on HP is when I'm stump grinding and I'm working a large or fresh stump. I also wouldn't mind upgrading to a larger wood chipper in the future. Otherwise, I have enough HP for pretty much everything I can do with this size tractor. Though I'm sure having a few more HP wouldn't hurt for powering the HST pump under heavy load.

A CTL is definitely in my future, not sure how far out though.

Forget what HP your Massey is, but 60HP is about the highest you can get HST in, like the NX6010 or the L6060.

Mine is 48...

Yeah, Deere offers the most at 66 HP. I like the Deere's, but probably wouldn't own one of the 4x20 (or new 40xx) series because I find the cab too small, and a couple other things I don't like.

Everyone else, including Massey, offers right around 60 HP. Still not sure how much of a difference I'd actually notice, though I'm not against experimenting if/when I find a good deal.

As it turned out I missed out on the l3350. Someone in ohio lucked out due to me hesitating. I was kind of bummed but then later that night I found a l2850 with a loader, a third of the hours, and half the price tag. It was nearly in my backyard to boot. Signed the papers on it today. Didn't get to bring it home yet as part of the deal included the dealer fixing the leaking water pump but I'm excited. Not sure Ill be able to move the bales we have now but I talked to our baler before pulling the trigger and he said he could run smaller bales out in the 7-800 pound range no problem. Now I just need to hunt down a backhoe to put on it along with a dozen other implements just because.
