I have to mow under a lot of trees on the edge of my fields. I have the hard canopy but i have to unbolt and remove then fold down ROPS to mow in a lot of places and it is major pain. I was looking at the folding canvas covers or canopy but they don't seem to mount to ROPS but to axels and fenders. Surely on this forum someone has found a way to mount to ROPS. Then i could just fold down ROPS and fold up canopy and mow under trees, then put up ROPS and unfold canopy and be off and mowing in open areas. What do you think? Am i asking for the moon?

No, but I think you are going to have to design and build it yourself. Look on the bright side, after you get'r done you can start selling them if it works slick enough.:)

Well I just trim the branches off the trees so that I can get closer. I would be interested in a canopy like this as well.

I wonder why there arent many/any that are spring loaded attached. I'm guessing there are some reasons I cant think of, but it sure sounds like a good idea. And no way would I even think about engineering/building one but it seems to make sense. Dunno. I did buy the RhinoHide mentioned above for my little BX2200 and I like it. The reason I got this one is due to height. I could mount it where it doesnt add height to the ROPS which is what I needed for that little tractor. I like that you can easily remove it as well. The Rhino is real close to what you are looking for. Just make sure you get the option of the "Quick Release". Dont know if that is the correct term, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Just enough of my working area (not just mowing) is in the woods that I need to be able to get in & out without tearing stuff up.

Oddly enough I started looking at canopy's today & was googling around the web. Thought I'd do some searching here & found your thread.

So far I'm really liking the one Areeves08 suggested. It's little more pricey, but look at their Easy On/Off mounts. From what I can see it looks like it would be fairly easy to pop it off to mow under the trees & then put it back to finish the rest.

Not quite as simple as you're hoping for, but it might be a good compromise...

RhinoHide Tractor & Mower canopies

Yes, I like the RhinoHide (still shopping, don't have a canopy yet) and also the Sun Guard. RhinoHide is HDPE, Sun Guard is ABS.

This site offers both for easy comparison: canopies

I have two of the Sun Guard canopies. One was on my JD 2210, and the other was on my JD Z820A mower. Both were great, and both took a fair amount of abuse with only scratches to show for it! A very good value in my book.

Since then I transferred the canopy from my Z820A to my new Z930M, and the JD 2032R I traded in the 2210 for already had a factory canopy, or it would be on it. Sometimes I wish I did, as I know the Sun Guard will take a pounding but I worry too much about tearing up the factory canopy! I'm hoping to find a ROPS for my JD 455 so I can use the Sun Guard canopy off of the 2210.

It's sure nice to be out of the direct sun, especially now that is approaching triple digit heat here.
