Looking for large 48" 3 ph scoop pan

My operation changed and I found myself needing to move several hundred yards of dirt. I started searching for a scraper and wanted one like the one you pictured. Finally found one that fit my needs but it was in Oklahoma. Before I committed to that trip I was visiting with a neighbor and mentioned that I wanted a scraper. He used to have one and had sold it to a friend. That guy was wanting to sell it. So I ended up buying it. It uses Dolly wheels and is a clamshell scraper. 5yd and has had extensions added. Took me a little bit to get used to the Dolly wheels but get along with it fine except when trying to fill a narrow ditch. Gotta dump to the side of the ditch and then push the dirt in. But it gets me by. I enlarged two pond dams with it. I'll never sell it. I'm sure I'd "need" it as soon as I did sell it. :)

The depth of cut is controlled by the tractors 3 PH hydraulic lift.
Can cut down 6" if needed.

I'm just trying to understand how that works. It looks like the top 3PH link would keep the scraper parallel to the ground and the rear wheels wouldn't let the cutting blade down. I see other linkage there so I'm probably not understanding the whole picture. Very interesting and I would love to have something like this.

That is some serious dirt moving equipment for private use!
I am impressed.
What horse power and weight is your tractor and how well does it handle a scraper that size?

95HP, 10,500lb weight. When cutting tight clay I fill the FEL bucket first. I wouldn't want a bigger scraper. I paid $4700 for it. I'll never wear it out. :)

Zoom in and look closely at the top link attachment point of the scoop.
It is designed to pivot freely 10" or so between the upper and lower stops on the scoop.
I adjust the top link so that in the raised position it is just touching the lower front stop and the front of the scoop is higher than the back so the dirt is less likely to fall out.
In the lower position it just touches the rearward top stop and is at the perfect angle to cut into the earth, depth controlled by the hydraulic control of the arm height.
The top link is just basically there and the scoop could be used without a top link just fine.

That is a large and powerful 4WD tractor and I am sure that your scraper can easily humble it.
It probably would really work and give a MF 1155 more than it could handle too.
You got a great deal on that scraper and it will be good for a life time!
Impressive and congratulations!

After over a year of looking I found and bought a 20 cubic ft Montgomery Wards scoop that was listed on Craigslist 110 miles away!
It did not have the wheel option on it and was a bit much for the MF 165 when fully loaded with clay.
Even with the FEL bucket full of dirt the front end of the tractor was a bit light going up an incline.
I welded up a frame for the scoop and attached Ford Focus hubs and wheels.
It works great with the added wheels.

Is there a story behind the "scrap" welding beads?

Edit: The word "scrap" welded on the metal surface.

It was like that when I got it and I wonder about that too.
Possibly it may have been headed for a scrap yard and someone wanted to practice their artistic welder writing ability.
I was considering adding er on the words for scraper and highlighting the letters in black.
That would be faster and easier than grinding the weld off the metal.
Or leave it as is and make people wonder.

You need to leave it. Then make up a dramatic story that takes 2 or 3 minutes to tell. Last sentence being "I'm just kidding". :D
