Would like a good source of lights that have a magnetic base and can preferrably be plugged into a cigarette lighter,I would like lights that are good work lights I could mount on my tractor.
Thanks
Scott

Scott,

Just last night I saw that very thing on the shelf at my local Tractor Supply Co. store for $19.95. They're made by the same people who make a lot of tractor work lights. I'm not certain but it could be Blazer. Good luck. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yes, like Gary said @ TSC for $19.95 magnetic base and coiled cigar lighter plug attachment... actually a decent looking unit...

I picked one up @ Quality going out of business for ~ $8. and believe it has a replaceable 55 watt lamp ($2.50-3.50 for the bulb)(sealed beam units cost more and basically throw away items)...

All in all, a good value for 20 bucks... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks John and Gary,
I never even thought of TSC,I will drive up there and look,I have some lights I bought and wired them into a junction box I bought through Curtis Cab,but the lights are up on my canopy and the darn brush plays heck on the wires, not to mention knocking the lights out of adjustment.I thought maybe a magnetic base I could just put the lights on the tractor when I needed them and take them off and tuck them away in a safe place when not in use.I have a flashing orange beacon I had mounted to the top of my canopy and ......well the brush knocked the globe off of the light and I lost it and I ordered another one with the magenetic base and plugs into the cigarette lighter.Same thinking here,if I am not on the road I do not need the beacon permantly in place.

Another place that has the same light is Wal Mart. I don't remember the price, but usually they are cheaper than TSC on comparable items. Kinda depends on which is closer to you and which you like to shop at.

That would be handy, if I had a lighter. I'm looking for a way to add a rear light to my B2710. I don't want to run a new wire from the battery and wonder if there is a spot near the back I can tap into?

Scott in WVA,

What kind of tractor do you have that comes with a cigarette lighter?

I put the lighter in an it has proven very handy for me,I can run an electric compressor from it and it picked up a battery operated oscillating fan for $10.00 at Walmart,I am going to get another one and be a cool tractor dude./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
I am looking for a 12 volt coffee pot and microwave oven and DirecTV with surround sound. Then I will pretty much have the total package.

I usually buy my car electrical stuff from http://www.delcity.net

I also bought my tractor work light/switch/wiring from them - the light was $9-10 everyday price.

I'm also going with DirecTV, but the dish keeps hitting the tree limbs /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have a 12V coffee pot. Use to do a lot traveling in cold country where rest stops were few and far between. It takes about 45 minutes to make a pot of coffee.

Turfman, I had the dealer install a cigarette lighter on the dash, left of the steering wheel, when I bought my B2710. They ran a heavy wire with an inline fuse from the starter for the cigarette lighter. But for rear work lights, you already have a hot wire under the seat, fuse in the fuse box. You just need to attach to that wire, run to a switch, and then to the light (unless you buy one of the lights with a built-in switch). You shouldn't have too much trouble finding that wire under the seat; it has a connector on it and mine was taped to the wires going to the taillights.

I think they have probably improved since I bought mine in the early 80's. It is a percolator type and I think they have drip types now.

Forgot to mention that the existing wire for optional work lights is wired through the ignition switch; only "hot" when the key is turned on.

I looked at Wal mart last night, while the wife and 4 kids were loading up the carts for back to school,I found the lights and I very discreetly slipped them in with the schools supplies.Well needless to say....the wife did not say a word....about my new toys.Well she shouldn't since I am buying anyway/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif2 trips to Walmart $1100 plus, not to mention the other places she took me,plus $2500 for a Dell for my son.I cant complain,my son has saved me some big bucks,he got a scholarship,to a private college here in WV,so it has been an expensive week. But thats life........and I am happy with mine../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

When i ran the cables to run power for my fender mounted radio, I also added a cig. lighter receptical to power 12 v things. Have used it to run air compressor to pump up the riding lawnmower tires, etc. I also made a jumper cord that is cig on one end, and battery clamps on the other. Makes it easy to jump of fthat same riding lawnmower when I forget to turn the lights of on it..whoopsie! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
