Anyone have an electrical diagram for the 1816 starter circuit? I need to troubleshoot my starter which doesn't even try. I suspect it's the clutch switch which has needed a good kick in the past but would like a schematic of the starting circuit before I dig into it.

I have wiring diagrams in my owners manual for my 6520. The manuel came with the tractor. Did you get an owners manual when you bought your 1816?

I got the service manual for my 1538 and oddly enough it had wiring diagrams for the cab and such but nothing for the engine. Mahinda service documentation leaves much to be desired. It's about the worst I've ever seen that was passed off as a service manual. Not one part number in it even for the common service items like the filters. In a word, PATHETIC!

Thanks, that's a start. I imagine it's a similar solenoid/starter unit at least. Mine is HST, I know for sure it has a clutch switch, I read on another forum that there's another switch on the PTO control, and I don't know if there is also one on the Low/High range control.

Then I would guess you would say that about Boeing's Maintenance manuals or any aircraft mfg, also. Airliners all have separate maintenance manuals and parts manuals. They also have separate wiring manuals. So it doesn't bother me that Mahindra is stingy with part numbers in service manuals. Search online and you can find part numbers for Mahindra tractors. Mahindra, like aircraft mfg..........from time to time.........update manuals and change part numbers. Why incur costs of having to update service manuals also. My 6520's filter part numbers have changed since I bought the tractor in 2007.
