The OP is cutting hayfields, not pastures. Leave the pasture mowing to the bush hog.
I can't imagine any significant negative to a conditioner in any climate.

OK, you got me on that one.
I just can't imagine spending that much to cut my 60 acres of grass hay.
Also, I believe the OP is talking about a trailed mo-co.
And, I was using the term "pasture" interchangably with hay meadow. Sorry if I confused you.
