Cutting edge extends life of bottom lip of bucket indefinitely

Cutting edge is super hard and wears super slow

Good luck with whatever decision

I've never had clamp on separate from bucket

It does pivot on its clamp bolt but not huge deal

You might also look into a 3-point trailer mover. Easy to build or you can buy them. Your 3-point most like lifts more than your FEL.

I built one that is compatible with both CAT 1 and CAT 2 so I can use on both of our tractors.

It's much easier to see both gooseneck and bumper pull hitches than one on bucket IMHO.

Based on this thread, I had this "bucket buddy" made up.
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ng/93535-bucket-buddy-instead-weld-hooks.html
I bolted it to the top of the bucket and it works well. I use it for moving my trailers and I made up a 6' boom pole to attach to it as well. I did find for one of my trailers, which is low, I had to put a lowering piece to get the ball low enough to connect to trailer without bucket digging into the ground. I found that with the lowering piece it moved the ball out in front of the bucket enough that it bent the top of the bucket. To counter that, I am going to make up a bracket that goes from the lowering piece to the bottom of the bucket to transfer weight to bucket rather than depend on bucket top to handle the load.

I have seen those, I have a back hoe that is on the tractor 90% of the time, it's a lot quicker to swap loader attachments than pull the hoe off. If I didn't have a hoe I would have one of those, when we had our 790 I used a draw bar with all the holes on the 3pt with a ball or D shackle. The 790 was too small to move the gooseneck.

I have almost finished my solution:

Some time this week I will give it a test on the bucket, maybe try and break or bend it, see if it needs any modifications. If all goes well I will clean it up and throw a coat of paint on.

I also threw this together:

Now I will have a hitch available on the draw bar, I almost never use the draw bar other than dragging a trailer around anyways. So far I have spent about $60 and I still have 5 or 6 feet of 2.5" tubing, by the time I am done with that tubing every attachment I have might end up with a hitch :D. I chose white for a paint color because I was cleaning out the cellar and found 10 cans of white spray paint, looks like I will have a lot of white hitches!

Nice fab work! When you mount the hitch, on your bucket, how will you see it during "hookup" to a BP trailer?

Just like you do with a truck and trailer, after hooking up a few times you just kinda learn when to stop. I used to hook up with a ball in a bucket, had a hole drilled just behind the cutting edge, couldn't see that one at all! If I stand I may or may not be able to see it. I know the safety police will hate this but the best part of HST is the fact that you can move the tractor while standing next to it.

I test fit the hitch and got a coat if paint on it. Didn't have a trailer to try pulling around so I am just assuming it will stay put :D. Here is a view from the seat, it's small and hard to see, but you can see the tip of the hitch just to the left of the hook on the top of the bucket. This is with the bucket rolled back a little (an inch or two from heal to cutting edge), and the hitch is about 18 inches off the ground. None of my trailers are this low and raising it increases the viability.

I Highlighted the hitch it seemed hard to see... although when you are on the tractor it's fine.
