Looking for Tree Removal Ideas

My tractor is pretty tiny -- NH TC18 (18 HP) with a 12LA loader. I cut the scarifier beam off a damaged 6' box blade and used it, along with the scarifier teeth, as my digger. (see attached). It works pretty good. I can pop 3" to 4" pines out of the ground, and worried a pine with about a 6" trunk by loosening the roots, pushing on the trunk, and finally flipping it over by the roots. Mostly, I use it on the noxious Braziilian pepper trees that threaten to take over Florida.

Here, I'm dragging out a pretty good size tree that I popped out. It's not a pine (I think it's a pepper tree), but the roots are about the same structure as pine roots.

Is that mounted to the bucket? If so, how?

I have a Farmtrac 60...50 hp 2wd tractor with a loader and a 6' bush hog with a slip clutch. I put the loader at about 8 or 9 ft up the tree, 10 year old pines, and while applying down pressure and bending the tree over I drive over it and cut it up with the hog. If I can't bend the tree over then I cut it with my husky and run over with my hog to cut off the limbs at about 9 inches.

A year or so later I run over the mess with my antique dearborn disk plow and then the next year or so I disk it up with a bush and bog.

Works ok. Lots of fun. Choose your poison...time or money...a bulldozer could do the whole project in a couple of hours...but doing it the way I do gives me some time to really thing about what I'm doing and where I'm going with my project.

I also do the portable brush pile thing by cutting trees like in places I can't take the tractor...it is 2 wd /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif...and make a brush pile on my loader forks and take it to my burn piles.

Do I see a BIG smile in between these lines? Welcome to TBN. John
