Hi All,

I'm considering a B series for my next tractor to replace my Economy Power King. There are 2 dealers in a 100 mile radius of me; Chappell Tractor Sales, Inc. and M.B. Tractor & Equipment.

I would be interested is hearing about your after-sales/repair and parts supply experience.

I have initiated contact with both and they are pleasant and helpful but in my experiences with other power equipment dealers, sometimes it is far different after the ink is dry.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

I bought my B3030 from MB Tractor in Tilton. The price difference between MB and Chappell was $100.00. I bought from MB because it is closer and I liked the salesman. They also had the cheaper price but the $100.00 wouldn't have been enough to sway me between dealers.

I'm gald I went with MB. Within the first few days the engine developed an oil leak at the rear crankshaft bearing. They picked up the tractor without charging me a trailering fee, just as they said they do when I bought it. After they looked at it, and realized it wasn't a minor problem and needed to replace the rear seal they offered to bring out a B21 for me to use. I was going away for the weekend so I declined.

They called the next week and said that they were going to put in a whole new engine, because they didn't like th way the end of the crank looked. The service manager told me he was going to bring out the B21. This time I accepted. I had the B21 for three weeks and put 28 hours on it. When they delivered my fixed B3030, you would have never have known that they had replaced the engine.

I have no experience with Chappell, so I can't comment on them, but I really
liked the service I've received from MB.

Tis an unfortunate coincidence that I read "NH" and think "New Holland", and I'm getting ready to tell you you're not in Kansas anymore...:)

Chappell

If you do a search on Chappell, they have been discussed here a fair amount. They are one of the more well known & respected dealers in New England.

I've bought 2 tractors from them a New Holland TC18 & Kubota B3030

MB (Plaistow) was $2,000 more on my B3030 quote

Sales team is always responsive - (Ted in Brentwood and Dave in Milford)

When I decided that I made a mistake buying R4s on my TC18, I got a set of "take off" turfs at about ~50% off of MSRP (likely below thier cost).

TC18 MMM was late - they loaned me a RFM to mow my yard (6 weeks)

What little service I've had has been great.

TC18 was delivered with leaking rear seal - replaced at my house in <48 hours

TC18 leaking front hub - replaced under warranty in timely fashion.
Parts desk has most parts in stock, though I've had to order a couple specialty things - like when I broke the MMM linkage.

My Kubota L4150 and L5450 both came from Chappell. No complaints on either transaction. They agreed to replace the battery on the L5450 a few weeks after delivery even though it had been an "as-is" sale, and the price was some less than they were asking. Despite their growing size, they seem to still value the individual customer - maybe that's the key.

Go with Chappell. Better price, better service awesome parts department.

We have bought every tractor from Chappells our farm and landscape construction business has owned, starting all the way back to the 50's when they got going. Excellent service, price is always what it is, parts is excellent, as is their power tool department. Nice people as well. We are so lucky to have them so close buy.

My experiences with MB have been decidedly negative. I will never buy so much as a quart of hydro from them again. I've never done business with Chappell, but other than some posting that they are a little pricey, most everything you see on Chappell is positive. I've bought parts from Hawkenson's in Plymouth and they seem fine. You might also try Pinnacleview over towards Keene. Others have also done extremely well price wise with Emerich Sales in NY who will probably deliver you a tractor to your door for less than anyone in NH (at least they used to). The issue there would be your dealer relationship would be a long ways away.

I purchased my first tractor from Chappell. L2900 I was pleased with their customer service. The day that I brought up a concern they sent out their service manager and he quickly pointed out that every thing was fine on the tractor.

I continue to due business with them.

You've had much better luck and service than I have with Chappell, I bought my L Series from Dave in Milford, I was lucky to have no problems with the machine. I bought it with turfs and when I got it home I soon realized the tires were not going to climb my hills. I called Dave and he didn't return 3 calls. I went to see him in person and asked what recourse I had and was told they would sell me R4s for $ 2400 and I was stuck with the turfs (less than 2 hrs use) I called across the border Wescott & Sons in Gorham in ME. They sold me the R4s with rims for $2000 and gave me $ 1200 in trade for my turfs.

I buy chain at Chappell ( B&B Chain ) and like their parts Dept. but I won't buy my next tractor there. I'm just guessing about this but my problem (with the salesman) may have resulted from getting my own financing instead of the one he wanted to sell me.
