but no fun to turn around

Takes planning ahead and knowing the route. If you miss my access road it is another 10 miles before a long trailer can be turned around, almost a half hour added to the trip.

Just a little food for thought here.. I turned my wheels around on my nx5010 and filled my tires for stability and traction on hills and my width is now either 82 or 83 inches. Wound up having to go with a deck over trailer to get it wide enough.

22+ should be fine.

As others said, 20' just too small to get load right

Yup! I had a 20 footer and it was too small for load arrangement or wanting to add more stuff on the trailer. I am happy with a 24 footer.

What does a 22-24 decent quality trailer go for? One that can carry 10-12K.

Mine is a 14K 22' PJ type TF (full tilt) model. Tilt beds cost more than a trailer with ramps. Usually around $1500-2000 more. Depending on brand, tilt beds can run $5500 and up. That said mine cost around $6800 incl. tax. A similar trailer with ramps would be around 4-6K.
Texas Pride 22' 14K with ramps shows 5K price.

Since my trailer weighs about 4K I can carry 10K max. You would need a trailer rated higher than 14K to carry 12K or more on the trailer.

Here is my .02 and the standard worth everything you paid for it

20' should be long enough. After length is determined it comes down to about three things:
angle iron/c channel - how big and how long
cross member makeup and spacing (hint 2' spacing saves the manufacturer a lot of moola)
axles/tires

other than paint choice - powder coat/paint and led lights vs. regular the rest of the stuff is marketing. Sure you can argue about ramps and wheel/tires, rub rails, stake pockets, wood floor vs. metal, and the necessity of a manufactured or self made chain bin and winch plate. I have a guy down the road that can weld whatever I want, I just needed a manufacturer to make a solid frame to work from. Everyone customizes their trailers for the most part anyway, so why bother with what the dealer offers, get something plain Jane and pimp it out later. I'd put some spinners on it, maybe jack it way up in the air and put some super fat mudders on it and then run your exhaust through it and coal roll people from your trailer. Yeah Boi.
