The other dealer that I dealt with long distance ( in PA ) was Messicks. They post frequently on this site and might be worth talking to if you are looking for a good price. They were willing to deliver to me in MA at the time so they might be willing to deliver to NY also. www.messicks.com

Yes, I am looking to save on tax.

In Oneida County the sales tax is 9.75%. That's approximately $1511 tax for a BX23.

$15,500 + $1511 = $17,011 delivered, from my local dealer.

Seems like I should be able to do a little better than this.

I am about 100+/- miles from a state border (PA, VT, CT, or MA) but I think it should be worth the drive.

Even if the price is $300+/- more and they charge me $200 for delivery, I would still be saving $1000+/-.

Oneida would put you out near Utica. Try White tractors.

White's Farm supply wanted $16,000 for the BX23, Evans said $15,500.

White's also quoted me $20,000 for a B7610, FEL & BH. That seems high.

The tax is based on either:
the county where you live if the tractor is delivered or
the county of the dealer if you pick it up.

This assumes that both the buyer and dealer are in NY.

Although if I buy out of state I can avoid both state taxes completely if they deliver it.

Funny... I am in MA and now looking at buying from NY (due to this thread). Why don't we exchange tractors at the border?

I went thru the same search you are doing now. Finally settled on a local Ct. dealer and bought a Case. There have been many posts on the tax issue, just ask Junkman. I decided it was not worth the worry about Infernal Revenoors catching me later, they have all the time in the world. If you are financing the tractor they are searching the paperwork to nab out of state sales. Unless you pay CASH ( and I mean dead Presidents), a paper trail exists. You might enjoy living on the edge /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I went to my local dealer (Woodbury Tractor), got his best price and since he was so close in distance and $, it was done. Good Luck w/ the decision, I think we all went thru it, the BX is a great machine.

just look for the best deal...hint hint...it is in NY.


Take tax out and my 54" mmm out of the equ and my local dealer was $1,999 HIGHER then Emerichs

I don't know how my name got attached to taxes, because I just paid my taxes 2 weeks ago.... all $435,746.79 worth. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Here is a good thread about taxes from the archives.....

New York State is getting strict on avoiding mail order tax. There is a place on the NYS Tax Form for you to incude all out of state purchases. If you do not pay the minimum There is no limit to how far they can go back and audit you. I have been paying the minimum.

What is the minimum tax???? People in the central part of the state are really being hosed, because they probably don't ever go out of state to make purchases.... to far to go to get out of state....
