I am looking to buy a mower to cut 2 properties, one 4 acre and one 2 acre. I will be splitting the cost with the 2 acre property, so I can spend a little extra since I won't be putting up all the cash. Both of our properties are flat and only have a house and a few trees to work around. That being said, we are looking for a mower that is faster than our current one with a larger cutting radius. What are your suggestions for a tractor to do such work? Again, it will only be used to cut these 2 properties so I don't want to spend too much, but I would still like something that is reliable and fast. Any help would be appreciated

What do you have to tow it around with would be the first question. If you went with a tractor you may need a heavier truck to pull it, could you get by with a zero turn mower or something with a 5' or 6' deck?

Welcome to TBN Seths. What do you have now? Do you plan on doing anything with the tractor besides mowing? If so what? If it is just mowing I would definitely go with Ronjhall's suggestion or a similar Zero turn mower if the ground is not too rough. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I forgot about the rough ride if ground is not smooth. When I purchased my front mount mower, dealers delivered several different types of mowers to try. The ZTR's was the worst riding for me.

if you plan on just mowing, I would sugest some sort of ZTR mower. They really get the mowing job done fast,,

Not spending too much relates to buying something more than I need. There are diminishing returns as price goes up, performance doesn't go up quite as much. It would be like purchasing a ferrari when a corvette is all you really need. (read: it is still expensive, but much less expensive than the ferrari)
To answer the other questions, the yards are both relatively smooth, certainly not hilly and it will be used ONLY for cutting.

Like the others said. What are you mowing with now? What are you wanting the total budget to be? And are both of the property owners willing to buy/drive a tractor? Also.. what is the time frame for the cut? ( how long do you want to set on the mower to make the grass shorter? )
