Chinese tractors? Not unless you can do the maintenance and repair work yourself.
LS and TYM are good brands.
My advice: buy as much horsepower as you can afford.

Buy from a local dealer (50-75 mile radius) who has a decent inventory of new tractors/implements,
a parts department that has a good supply of scheduled maintenance parts,
and a source for repair parts that is reliable and fast,
and, finally, a full service maintenance shop.

Good luck.

Pretty much what boggen said SEMO is a pretty diverse area from pool top flat farm land to fairly steep hills, row crop land to heavily forested, hard to recommend a tractor size or type without more information. I won't buy Chinese tractors, we looked into them and the quality is just not there for our needs.

Buying a chinese tractor is way to risky for me. Your tractor isn't going to do you any good if it's broke down and you can't find parts or someone to fix it.

Spend a little more money and buy something reliable with parts availability and dealer support.

Of the ones you mentioned, definitely the LS. And, if you can swing it, get the G3038 instead if the 33. You can't really add HP later, and the extra HP will definitely help. Also, the loader on the 38 lifts more than the 33.

And remember (most tractor owners will agree) ... a tractor will shrink very very quickly. Happened to me before. Get bigger than you think...

Thanks to all who responded. At this point I plan to visit a few dealers. Planning to give some consideration to a hst.

Of the four mentioned I liked the TYM the best when I was looking. I am however with the others who think a bigger machine might be best for your needs and would start looking at bigger more powerfull machines.

I'd look for a used Kubota MX5100 with FEL and 4wd. You can find decent ones LESS than the upper end of your budget. Buying used is also a benefit as you can use the machine for a few months and confirm that it's what you need. If you find you need something else, you can easily sell it for what you paid and look elsewhere. 80 acres of land is a good bit even for a 50hp machine. The only reason to be looking at anything less than a 50hp machine is if you're going to be doing maintenance on said property SOLELY! The MX is a great balance of size and capability. The next size up begins to grow in size much quicker.

The MX5100 is a capable machine that can lift 2500lbs at the pin and just under that @ 24" behind lift point on the 3pt hitch. Going with anything smaller means it will be doing that much more work to get the same task accomplished, and IT DOES add up. We've used a K L3800 on a 60ac property for improvement and the machine has clearly had a hard life, and cannot do everything that's needed. When performing loader work, 4wd makes a night and day difference. It also provides additional traction that will keep the tractor moving when a 2wd will stall out.

Also, listen to the regular members here. They will not always agree on everything especially when it comes to brand, but what is always agreed on is minimum machine capabilities. As you knock out tasks on your property you will begin to see even bigger ones and will quickly question the size of the machine. A lot of people see a task and think it's within a smaller machines capability and sometimes make excuses to further the idea....but remember, you can dig a pool with a spade shovel.

It's nice to have a neighbor with larger machines that can be used, but don't use that as an excuse to not get the size machine you need for most of your tasks. Do not go out and buy a new machine until you get some seat time in with a used machine unless you have money to burn. Purchasing a used machine is the easiest way to ascertain what you need.

Always buy as much tractor as you can afford. We traded up from the L3400 HST to a L4701 HST just last week. It was a world of difference in quietness and power. I gave up the backhoe on the L3400 and do not regret it since the lifting capacity of the L4701 was such a gift. We have 40 acres and I cannot imagine a smaller tractor for 80 acres. Everyone I know who has a tractor wishes they went bigger. Sometimes bigger is better. ;)

I have 150 acres and use a 55hp tractor. While it does most things I want to do, it will not do any real heavy lifting (FEL and TPH). If I had the money I would go for something around 70hp for my needs and make it a cab tractor (it is bloody cold up here in the winter ).
For your 80acres I would think you could use at least 60hp or more - once you have bought it is expensive to change and go bigger. Just something to think about.
