I haven't really been following this thread, but I admit I find it a little annoying that my BX is marketed as the ultimate riding mower for rich folks in their McMansions. I don't have any problem with rich folks who live in McMansions, I have friends and family who fall into that category, but the BX is a perfectly capable farm tractor for anyone wishing to use it that way.

I am a school teacher, but I married a woman who grew up on a large apple farm and I bought the BX to augment 2 larger tractors we already have. The larger tractors are too big for a lot of lighter duty and tight quarter stuff I wanted to be able to do.

Primarily I use the BX for cultivating between rows of plastic mulch in a 2 acre garden and for finish mowing the orchards in the fall before we open for PYO apples. For cultivating I needed the smallest possible tractor so I could put the rows as close together as possible and still be able to get it in between. If has worked fantastically for this purpose and our garden looks better than it has in many years.

Last fall I used it for mowing the orchards and they looked like little fairways on a golf course. This is a great thing. People can come and get out on a real farm, but they don't get their shoes wet from the 4 or 5 inch high grass a box mower would leave. I may buy a trailer for it to haul apples and pumpkins around as well.

Additionally, I have used the tractor to lay plastic mulch more accurately and with less effort (becuase it's so easy to get off and on the BX) than I was able to do with a larger tractor. We also used the BX to pull a 25 gallon sprayer around the orchards for applying roundup to the strip of weeds between the trees I can't reach with my sickle.

As an added bonus, when you use a B series tractor on a farm you only get a one year warranty. All BX tractors have a 2 year warranty, regardless of where they are used.

So, to sum up, I just wanted to say that I've been using my BX almost exclusively for agricultural purposes for almost a year now and I couldn't be happier with the way it has performed. Given Kubota's rep for build quality and the fact that it's a diesel engine, and given the relatively very low cost compared to other small tractors that are designed just for farm use, I expect to look back on this purchase as a very good decision. The tractor should last 20 years and I should be able to get a good price used when/if I ever sell it. If you need a small tractor for a farm, and ground clearance isn't an issue, a BX is a no-brainer.

Nice MOPAULY. Just don't get a TUI. (Tractoring under the influence)
There was alot or treads over the years about cupholders but its nice to see a new innovation on the market.

Had to read this one over again and still have to chuckle at the various reactions to people’s summarization of certain tractor owners. It's all in fun and I certainly appreciate how it's kept that way. I drive a Dodge/Cummins and occasionally tow my 5th wheel with it, so therefore spend some time on rv.net. Man, over there it's a genuine war zone when the Dodge/Ford/GM debates occur.

You're blessed enough to live in Yuengling territory, and you drink Guiness instead? :p

I brought the mail back from the box this morning in the bucket. Two Cabela's catalogs and a huge JC Penney's made it too much. I was glad the BH was on since I didn't want to be unsafe. I didn't need 4x4 since it was summer, but I did run in low gear so the trip would last longer. The speed of high gear would have cooled the latte too much.

You're killing me. This is the first non-American vehicle I've owned, and it rips me apart! ;) (No need for anyone to remind me they're built in GA.)
