Loose 430 Loader shim fix

IMO you can do the most good with your post where it fits best, and looks to me like it is right here. ;)

JB weld might be something to try, and if it doesn't work.. no harm, no foul. Can then do the welding.

So far, by 430 FEL on my 4300 shows no signs of needing a shim fix. Unless I'm missing something. ;)
Thanks for reviving this thread, as I will look closer at the present condition.

Where mine was worn I don't think "JB" weld would hold up as long as it would take you to put it on there.

But you never know.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping someone was going to say that they used JB weld or something similar and that it has worked fine. Yesterday afternoon I ended up taking advantage of Rural King's 10 percent off and ordered a Hobart 140 welder. Now I got to learn how to weld. For the loader shims I have a friend who can weld and he has offered to do it with my new welder.

You just need small tack welds to hold the shims Mark, get some scrap and have your friend guide you a bit-then go for it!

Thank you Kenny, I am actually looking forward to developing some welding skills. I don't know how many times I have said to myself, " Well, if I had a welder I'd be able to fix it."

Looked around but did not see the thickness of het shims that come from John Deere. Are they all the same thickness or do they vary? How dose one determine what thickness to use? Just bought a used 4600 with 460 last week has 540hrs. Did notice the fel looked a wee bit sloppy so am wanting to tighten it up . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

On my 955 I made some shims. I drilled holes on the back bottom portion of the mount, threaded them and bolted the shims on.

My 4410 is also loose. I always thought that the larger mounting holes on the flanges were so that you could rotate the mount and tighten it up the slop that way. I'll admit that it's something I've never looked closely at yet but my day is coming as every year the loader is a bit looser. When I get too it i'm going to look into rotating the loader bracket before I add shims again. Even if I have to elongate the mounting holes slightly with a die grinder.
