For Emma my German Sheppard, its brown rice and chicken. Takes about 3 days for her system to settle down than slowly go back to her feed over the next few days. One thing I have noticed is that odd treats (table scraps/bones) upset her gut then we are back to the brown rice. I also have some pro-biotic ( for horses that I get at the local feed store) that I use weekly. Seems to keep her happier now.

What color is the stool and is when you say loose do you mean soft serve or watery? Also what's the smell? Does it smell like poop or does it smell like dogfood?

Oh man, this brings back a Cheech and Chong memory

I would have him tested for Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency; test isn't too bad, but then you know. Its a very common dog issue. Have had Shepherds with it. They can be nearly normal if treated.

Pumpkin is the right thing to try. One tbsp. for 10lbs of dog. The stuff is very effective. Boxers can be a real challenge. See if the pumpkin helps, if it doesn't you can try another food with the protein in the mid 20's. Certainly it could be a medical condition, but let's try managing the diet first and see if you have any luck. Hope it helps.
