Loose tiller tines on woods rtr60.40

Got this brand new woods 5ft tiller on and used it for about 40 minutes and 2 tines on the same plate came loose. As you can see in picture the tine has slipped out of between the plates exposing a hole in the tine that once back in place has no place for a second bolt. Someone said they never seen a tiller with only one bolt per tine so im a little confused here as to if the one bolt just got loosened and needs tightened back up? I am new to a tractor and a pto tiller so when someone told me there should be 2 bolts per tine and that they never seen a tiller that didn't have 2 bolts per tine, made me think yeah that doesnt make sense to only have one bolt per tine seeing how its making continuous impacts in soil..... seems like a weak design, but from a good tiller like a woods you wouldnt think they would manufacture one with that kind of obvious design flaw. Anyone with woods tiller experience have any suggestions ? thanks

Did you ever figure this out. I jut bought a woods tiller and used it for perhaps 30ft... 2 of the tines are loose. They seem to lock in the right position under pressure - but why only two??

I know this is an old thread, I came upon it while searching for something else and thought I would comment in case someone else finds it.

There is only one bolt holding each tine. These should be tightened to 140 lbs. It could simply be that the bolts were not tightened properly, however....

RTR is a reverse rotating tiller. Looking at the image I am assuming that it is taken from the front (PTO) side of the tiller. This means that the tines should be rotating clockwise as you look at that image. This should put force up and back on the tines and they should not get pushed out that way. This makes me think that they are not rotating in the right direction.

I have heard that it is possible to alter the woods reverse rotating tiller to rotate forward. If this has been done then the tines would be rotating in the wrong direction and the tines are in backwards. So you need to check what direction your tines are actually going.

Did you figure out this issue. My Woods 48.30 has this exact issue. 2 tines loose.

I had the same issue 20 years ago with a brand new tiller. New lock washers and a tube of locktite fixed the issue, permanently.

I have a couple of loos tines on mine after using it last spring that I planned on tightening up before I use it again. Didn't even think of adding locktite but I will now.
