Loose wheel bolts/My tractor is back

I don't get it. How many millions of cars and trucks are out there? I've never heard of this happening in either. I only have 130 hours on my tractor, but mine haven't moved since the day I put them on after having them filled with gel (about 15 hours after I brought it home). Why are they coming loose in the first place? What basic design detail are they missing and why don't they do it?

I'm sorry, I know there must be a mystery here that nobody can answer, but I share your frustration, and I'm just reading about it, not dealing with the real thing like you are. I can't imagine how frustrated you must feel having this kind of a problem with beautiful toy like that....

I have put 22 hours on this tractor since it came back from the shop with new wheel centers/bolts and axles.I noticed them coming loose at 12 hours and I have had to tighten the left side about 5 times in 7 hours of operation(today alone) since yesterday and I am a fairly strong guy.I emailed John Deere in regards to my case number originally given me a couple of weeks ago,this things are becoming loose enough to turn with my fingers.

Maybe It aint time ta open It ,But I wold be thinkin on reachin for a can of you know what.Im sure the problem will be tended to. A differant rig may be in order here,but Im like that.Surely your dealer will step up and do the rite thing.

The more I think about it, I just may go to a machnist or find some longer hardened bolts and see if I can't put alonger bolt through the rim and double nut the thing and go with it.

Farm boy, I don't know if this will help any but, the L35 Kubotas have a problem with the rear wheel bolts coming loose also, recommended they get torqued every 25 hours to 160 ft lbs. (by the owners manual) The ones that we have had problems with, we replaced all the bolts with studs. (that's studs with a capital <font color=red>RED</font color=red> locktite in the axles) seems to have worked out good in all the cases I've seen so far.

We sell 120+ Deere compacts a year...Wheel problems are very few....If a wheel does come loose it is normally the left rear. Wheel turns counter clock of thread. That the reason on large trucks. This wheel has left hand thread.

On all tractors retorq to specifications found in OM. after 10 hours of run. If bolts come loose , the rim counter sunk hole can become out of round. If this happens you will never be able to keep bolts tight. Solution is then to install longer bolt and put nut on back side. This is not a Deere problem , I have seen it on all brands of tractors..

As warranty goes Deere is the best....If not satisfied with your dealer try another, or call Deere Customer service.

If you happen to be willing to bring your tractor to SC we will be glad to make your fix under warranty.

Ed, I've read some of your posts and been very impressed. Is there any reason you don't want to register and become a regular contributor here? I, for one, would love to have a Deere dealer on board here (especially one as interested in customer service as yourself). Please give it some consideration.
