Loss of a pet

Rainbow bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Chris,

It is so hard to make that decision. They do become a part of you….

Take care,

Chris,
That day has come for us a few times. It's never pleasant. Right now we have 2 cats, 11 and 12, and a dog at 5. So I assume that day will come again before too long.

I am truly sorry for you Chris, about 4 months ago we had to put our "boy" Tonces under. He was not even a year old. The vet thought he had a bowel obstruction. They gave him and enema but that did nothing, then they x-rayed him and really did not see anything. The asked if they should open him up to do an exploratory because they thought there was some area's that they could not see very will in the x-ray. I would have never in my wildest dreams thought that we would have had a vet do all of this on a cat. But this cat was the first indoor cat myself or my wife had ever had. When they opened him up they found cancer all thru him. It was a horrible day for us. My wife and I went to the vet to be there when they put him to sleep. My wife and I are pretty young (32 and 31) and that was the hardest most emotional thing either one of us had ever gone thru. My wife was not a cat person before Tonces, and that cat converted her. I know exactly how you feel. I still miss that goofy cat! Hang in there.
Sincerly, Dave

We also were there, and held the cat while the vet gave her the shot. It was very difficult...

I had to put down my favorite pet cat this afternoon. I've had her for over 12 years,
All the pet owners out there will know what I'm talking about. I know it was just an animal... but they really grow on you...

They certainly do grow on you. I had to put down our cat of 15 years (cancer) and I was a wreck. It's been a year and a half and I'm just now thinking about adopting another cat.

I know how you feel...

Sorry to hear of your loss Soundguy. We lost one of our cats last year to intestinal cancer. She fought for a long time and ended up passing away about 2am the morning before we were going to bring her in and get her put to sleep. She was sleeping on the couch next to me and started acting a little funny - had a seizure as I held her and then she passed away. My wife had felt it was way past time to have her put to sleep but that cat still enjoyed going outside and hanging out right up until that last day. She always had been a fighter and I felt I owed to her to fight with her as long as she looked like she wanted to be here. I have lost other cats to cancer in the past and it always kicks you in the gut when it happens. In the end you will remember the good things you shared together.
