Mark : .... I certainly agree, your son said it best! I would hope that somehow passing those words on to a person on the brink,.... might be the turning back point. (?) Certainly extremely powerful words at the very crucial moment in some very confused life! Thanks for sharing.

PS : ...with all the controversy today, I thought twice before adding it,..
I speak from late-in-life experience but: ..if kids could only realize the absolute value of prayer,..of simply "asking Jesus for assistance",..then accepting the idea that he "will" answer..AND, the answer may NOT be exactly as you "expected",.. but it will be "His will",..and that will be the right answer. ..... SO difficult to explain,..but it SURE works for me, Amen!!

PPS : .. no I'm NOT a Bible Thumper, but if you need instruction on the matter,..try reading Matthew 6, . . . . . ... . .(to delete or not? . . not!)

Tug- don't think twice- our world needs to hear more of this. Many people accept Jesus as their savior but, do not accept that our prayers may not be "answered" the way we want or expect.

I accepted Jesus many years ago and understood what he has done for us but, I didn't understand the prayer part of it. It was not until I was having heart problems that I finally got the idea. I was "praying" (arguing) with God, asking for the miracle of healing..that I shouldn't have to go through any further sickness.....the miracle that the doctors would find no problem in my heart. I was also worried about my wife and children.

2 things happened that week. The first, was my first CLEAR message from God that- whether I live or die, he would take care of my family. I was able to go into the hospital with some comfort. The second thing that happened was the true miracle. I ended up having urgent open heart surgery to save my life.

It took me a month to realize it because I was disapointed that the "miracle" I had prayed for was not granted. Until, I realized that for months before, Gods miracle was at work already. My cardiologist was never able to explain why I was still alive after walking around with 2 arteries in my heart blocked- without having a massive heart attack.

Quite a "bolt of lightning" for me to finally get it. That was seven years ago and, even though I have had 3 heart attacks since, and am facing disability now- GOD is GREAT! I am alive and look at each day as a new opportunity to live.
