Loss of Power in YM1700

I had a simular problem as you describe with a JD 300-B. I turned out to be
a bend in the return fuel line sending the unused fuel back to the tank. Had
major loss of power most especially in the higher range gears. May be worth
checking out before getting the wrenches out

How does that work? Does it put excessive fuel in the cylinder, or divert the fuel that was intended for the cylinder, or ???

My understanding is that not all fuel presented to the cylinder is used.
The unused fuel is returned to the fuel tank and if restricted in some way
causes a loss of power and the engin to smoke. For me this was a very
cheap fix to what I thought was a major problem. It is something to check
and it is something not obvious unless you are looking for it.
