Lost 4X4?

I hope it just jumped out of gear or wasnt fully engaged on you. When I have busted a ring gear or pinion the noises were immediate. If you are not hearing any new noises it may be something minor. At only 600 hours you should have been safe using the front wheel assist. If there was already damage from the previous use or abuse it was going to happen anyway. It happens when you are using equipment so dont be too hard on yourself. :)

Dad ran by the shop today and they had the front end out from under the tractor......waiting on parts.

Sounds like you missed the problem when it reared it's head: you stated it, (lever) was stuck in 2wd when you looked at the tractor. So what did you do to get it unstuck? Evidently there was something not working prior to you or when you bought the tractor- unfortunately, and now you get to fix what was or now is broken. Hopefully it will be something simple and you'll be back to using your 4x4 feature on the tractor.

The shop we bought it from got it unstuck prior to purchase.

There are multiple threads here about the old linkage style transfer case shifter being stiff.........it worked fine after they got some lube on it........

In retrospect the only red flag was the bolts were missing from the left front wheel with only the studs holding the wheel on when we first looked at the tractor......the shop added the proper bolts before we took delivery. Everything checked out with the steering and 4X4 when I did the initial once over.

So are CUTS really not designed to perform work in 4X4? I've looked at some of the smaller tractors that obviously were for yard type work, but Kioti seems to build a real tractor.
.

You did no wrong by using it for the purpose it was built. We had the same thing happen on our 1523, snap ring popped off, tractor had to be split, but warranty covered it. They said it was a freak occurance, and that was the response Tech gave the when they called on warranty.

Hopefully it is not too expensive for you.

If there was an issue with the front end when you were looking at it is there any warranty from the shop you bought it from regarding the left front wheel and the missing studs- evidently somebody knew something about what was happening prior to your purchase- no?

I'm not sure how anyone would know.....the tractor performed flawlessly for 5 tach hours.

I don't think the tractor had been in 4X4 for some time....the underside was far too clean to have seen much rough use or mud. I put more wear on the paint underneath the tractor in 3 days than it had received in 5 years........

Probably just a bad luck situation........what you get into trying to buy a cheap tractor.

I'm not saying you would know there was a problem necessarily, but it seems someone from the shop you bought it from might have been aware of some issue. Did you buy from a tractor or Kioti tractor dealer?
Did they extend you a 30 day or some # of hours warranty?

"Gear" broke in the front end. Guy at the shop said the replacement part appeared to be much higher quality.

Going to pick her up tomorrow and get back to work.
