I have read that with some other pumps, after being rebuilt, they are set and somehow "locked" at No1TDC,
but mine is not like that. There is no way to set the pump in any particular position, at least not without seeing timing marks inside it. The pump shaft can only mount to gear one way, so had to turn pump shaft to align to gear. Only other possibility would have been to turn gear to match pump and I know that's not correct.

if you turned pump to match gear you messed up. you need to pull front cover and line up timing marks and then have pump set again then install pump
