:DHard to even think of a title for this. but I got a few good laughs from it and then thought about over the years how its happened before.
I am in the middle of doing some renovations, and in the process I was eliminating a small closet which backs up to the bathroom. The bathroom will be redone in another year or so,and this closet will add to the space in the bathroom.
So untill then the ''closet' will become an empty 'box' so to say untill I tear out the bathroom side.
Now come the funny part.,I ripped the door and frame and studded it in.Using a 4 foot level to level the studs..Then proceeded to hand the drywall on them, followed bu the jointing and paint trim etc.
Today I need the level and looked everywhere. Can t find it. drove me nuts. a four foot level where could it be..
This evening I thought about each step i took and realized that the level is now inside the wall.:confused2::laughing::laughing::D
I will retrieve it in a year I guess when I rip the closet wall open on the bathroom side.:thumbsup:
Its not an expensive one so im not to concerned. reminded me of the nice vice grips I lost in a fender well of a car, and a nice screwdriver that was left under the hood of another.
Funny how it is with tools that way. Maybe 10 years ago I wanted a good entwistle framing hammer but couldnt afford one. One day My dad hands me one. it found it in the road.
Anyways hope this makes someone else laugh and not feel like they are alone in these things lol If you have any similiar stories please share them...

When I was in high school wood shop I made an inlaid wooden box, about the size of a good tool box, the shop teacher told me to assemble it all and then we would cut the lid off! :D

Do you know what a mess a table saw will make of a full glue bottle while your ripping the top from the bottom! I had to stay after school for 3 hrs cleaning glue from everything, inside the saw, walls, light fixtures, It went everywhere! Thing is I know I did not leave that bottle of glue inside of that box!

I was just in the attick hanging some cripple studs for hanging rods for some extra clothes storage hangers in the wife's walk in closet.. something stronger than closet maid.. IE.. 1" heavy wall pipe on 3/8" frop rods.. etc.

I used a bat power drill, level, ruler, and marking pencil up there.

left almost ALL of it under a big flap of insulation. went up to get it an hour later.. while looking for it, found another flashlight up there, from 8 ys ago when I had to re-run some wireing to a fire alarm... :)

Found a purse in the road. A young gal had left it on the top of her car. I suggested next time she put it on her hood in front of the driver's seat so she could see it fall off.

The chimney sweep left his brush on top of my roof.. I guess it will be there for him when he comes this over this year...

I found a funny looking cross-peen hammer on top of my garage roof once. It had a hole all the way through it so one could screw the telephone pole spikes into a pole.

I think the power or phone company guy left it there.

I bought a used F250 4x4 one time. When I got it home and was looking it over, I found a 3/8" x 7/16" box end wrench on a brake bleeder valve.

I STILL remember the nice pocket knife I lost over 30 years ago... a guy tossed it to me, in the attic of a job we were on, and flubbed the toss. It went "POOF" and disappeared into about 15" of blown-in cellulose insulation. Never could find it!:(

About 25 years ago, my 3 year old son was "helping" me tune up my John Deere 214 riding mower. I had removed the spark plug and was getting the new one out of the truck. When I returned I couldn't find my spark plug socket anywhere. I looked and looked and kept asking him about it. He didn't understand what I was looking for. I found some kind of substitute wrench and installed the plug. I don't know if ya'll are aware of this little known fact, but a 7/8" spark plug socket is almost a perfect fit in the horizontal mufflet outlet on a 214.
I fired it up and POOF and out the exhaust flies my socket. :)
