I can start my BX with my RTV500 key.....

I put brightly colored leather or plastic on all my equipment keys.... and the keys I carry to get back into the house/barn I carry in my insulated coveralls in the winter. Drop something out in the woods or in the snow, and you have a better chance to finding it.

Never lost my tractor key - it has a large fob attached to the ring. However, years ago I gave up looking for "lost" stuff in my yard. I got a cheap metal detector and now can find stuff - nuts, bolts, washers, keepers, O-rings etc, etc. I just got sick & tired of having to make a special trip to the Kubota dealer for an item that I KNEW was somewhere, hidden in my lawn.

Many reasonably priced replacement Kubota keys can be found on Amazon:

Amazon.com: kubota key

Kubota keys appear to be model specific rather than individualized for every tractor. The keys for my old B series tractor even fit the L that replaced it. Not sure about other models though.

eBay has some. I bought spares for my Massey and Kubotas there. I selected the type of key based on the pictures.

No typical, handy and readily available key maker in your hometown -- like Lowes or Home Depot or your hardware store -- carry blanks for Kubota keys. TRUE.

Among other things, the Ilco blank you show on Amazon does not fit any of my Kubota tractors.View attachment 489336

The key you show I have on my BCX2230, G2160 and is used on early non cabbed RTVs. The cylinder does not have tumblers but something like springs to keep cylinder from rotating. Half the time the BX keys will fall out of the cylinder. The Grand L key is a wafer type cylinder.

I found my key !!!! It was just laying in the dirt with no grass or anything hiding it , but I had to be right on top of it to see it , It's now going to get a nice bright orange lanyard along with a duplicate , I ordered the ones on amazon so we'll get to see if they fit .

So what's your secret, inquiring minds need to know. Exactly how do you go about finding rubber O rings with a metal detector? LOL

After losing a key in the lawn, even though it had a small plastic key chain attached, I found a better solution. I have many ratchet straps with 1" nylon web straps. I use the bright orange, but any bright color would work. I cut a 6" piece off the end of the strap, and singe the ends to stop fraying. Then I heat a nail and punch/melt a small hole 1/2" in from one end of the 6" piece. Then just add a split ring through that hole and a key or keys. This works great for equipment or barn keys since the strap is soft and easy to carry in a pocket, but is large and bright enough to never lose even in tall weeds or brush.

My B8200 key starts my fathers B7200, and vice versa. I also keep a spare under hte "kubota" center cap on the steering wheel. It pops right off and there's enough room for a key without issue.

This link shows a pair of available keys and which models they will work with. I ordered a pair when I was ordering several filters etc. Shipping to me (California) would be another approx $8 for the keys alone.

Update= The keys listed on Amazon fit perfectly , saved me a 60+ mile round trip to the dealer , Lowes , Home Depot , and Ace didn't have blanks . I guess I will be chaining the heck out of it when I'm not using it now since the keys are worthless from a security standpoint .( I was getting lazy and stopped chaining it up ). Thanks for everyones input .
