I tie a bright ribbon (usually red) about a foot long to my key ring so if I were to misplace it or drop it, it would be easy to find.

To save that round trip get one of those magnetic key holders and stash a spare key under the hood or something.. Along with the key that paddle locks the steering wheel hard over to the right or left to make it harder for punks to take your tractor..

And I know, I know if they want to steal it they will do it no matter what.

Agreed. I tried to joyride one of my friend's new B26 with my L4200 key once. Didn't work, dangit.

My dealer says they are all identical. When my BX was broken down and stuck in deep mud out in the field, they said they'd come pull it out after the mud dried and when they had an opportunity. I asked whether I needed to drop off the key. The dealer said no, all keys are the same. After reading the full thread, I see he must have meant all BX keys are the same.

i know my neighbor's L4610 key fits my MX5000

I don't know how long Kubota has had their keys made like this... but I know the keys for one platform fit all tractors in that platform.

For example, the Keys for B fit all the Bs. The keys for the Ls fit all of the Ls. (Don't know if the Ls and Grand Ls are the same.) The keys for the Ms fit all of the Ms. (Don't know if the Bigger Ms are different from the smaller Ms.)

One thing I found out is the MXs are based on the L platform (Grand L?). The L keys fit the MXs.

I never have understood why equipment manufacturers do this. If one key fits everyone elses, why have a key? How much could it cost to have unique keys/locks/ignition switches? I think it is the same with the big CATs and others.

One more thing. My L key turned upside down would work in a RTV. It was an 05-07 model RTV so they may have changed by now.

Never lost a key.
1) Use a rope lanuard
2) use a small D shaped spring ring (rope) hook for each key
3) attached a quarter size standard key ring to each key
4) you'll have the lanuard, with each key on a key ring and it's own D ring.

I just take the entire rope thing back to my shop, hang it on a hook, pick the key I need (take a key from that D ring). When I'm done for the day, it's quick to see if I'm missing any keys...just look for the D ring without a key.
