Low buck 3rd function.

I was trying to figure out why they seem to cost so much and decided to put my own "kit" together.

Looks like the tractor in question has ~8gal/min on the circuit I wanted to tie into so I ordered this solenoid

I then set it up on the FEL where I wanted it (and would clear the parts welded behind so I was only drilling and tapping into the cross section of the flat plate) and drilled and tapped 4 holes for 1/4-20 grade 8 bolts.

I ordered 4 3/8npt ended hoses from surplus center, 2 x 8ft and 2 x 1ft, along with fittings for the solenoid. I used the factory QD fittings on the short hoses and secured the factory hoses to the solenoid so the FEL is still QD.

Here you can see the two line clamps from surplus center with standard bolts replaced with metric for factory locations on the FEL, need fo make one more further apart to hold the QD connections on the hard line cover.

I have an old shifter mounted nitrous switch I slipped onto the factory control under the knob that switches between the two.

Was an hour well spent and I should have done it long before and the low cost helped ease the $1800 for the grapple that I also should have had years ago.

I wish my machine came with a 3rd function..it did come with a rear remote. But its kind of awkward lifting/curling the grapple with the same hand as the rear remote has to work.

I guess that was the point of the thread. It is easier than a lot make it seem like.
