Thanks for the heads up. I just fixed my profile. I'm in NC. I cancelled the tiller. It is way too light and no depth adjustment, etc. Looks like crap. We are moving in July 1st so no sure I'll be planting anything. I'll have to see what I can plant that time of year.

I would suggest that you look at the Agri-Supply tillers.

They sell their 4' tiller (stock #77709) for $1381.99, and it has all 5 star reviews.

I think their tillers are still made by Caroni in Italy.

Agri-Supply is a GREAT company to deal with, and they are located in your geographic area.

I bough a 54 tine 6' gear drive HD from TSC for $2k. Sometimes they put them on sale. Other stores sell similar equipped units like mine for about the same price. $1500 for a light duty chain drive of the width you mentioned is a bit steep and is not HD.

On depth, you can dig as deep as you want to under certain conditions. The skids may come off, mine do and multiple passes at slow speeds with the tailgate lowered you can make "granulated soil" if you are of a mind. Creep gear would be required for deep tillage pulverising and maybe 4-5 passes.

TSC stuff is manufactured by Tarter Gate, generally not high quality.

Of course now I am questioning your dealer, and wonder if they amount to a car salesman outfit. If they tried to sell you a piece of garbage, how are they going to be with service or warranty work?

TSC used to sell King Kutter. That is part of the reason so many have one. I have never heard a bad word about their tiller. I have had one for about 10 years and it has been bulletproof.

Thanks for all the great info. In fairness the dealer said that the tiller was lower quality Chinese made and would work for light duty. I don't mind chain drive either. But the weight and depth was the real killer. They are having a 1500.00 rebate on the backhoe so I got the LM125, bucket and loader for 15k plus 400.00 for delivery - not tax. This dealer was easy to work with and friendly. I put the purchase on a credit card which cost me another 2% but I have protection if something goes wrong. Once I wired him his cash I would be at the dealer's mercy. The dealer is out of state but he is an authorized dealer so that is all that matters to me. I tried to buy it locally and figured I would just suck up the tax but the local guys were not coming close to out of state dealers. I called Brunos too which had good prices and free delivery but I didn't like the salesman and he wouldn't price match but was very close. He probably didn't know about the rebate.

Yes....I believe that TSC did sell the King Kutter tillers for quite some time.
I am reasonably certain that the current TSC tiller supplier is Tarter Gate.

I own a King Kutter, and it is a solidly built piece of equipment.
I compared KK to TSC (Tarter Gate), and chose the KK for it's better quality construction.
