You can always tell the gear shift guys from the HST guys. Our left thigh muscle is twice the size of our right thigh muscle!!!:D

Back to the OP's question: I would not think 50 hours per year to be out of the ordinary at all (low use yes...but not unusual). A four year old tractor may have stood for a year without selling (especially in 98 / 99 when the ecomomy basically STOPPED).....and you never know about someone being sick, etc. But.....I would have to investigate the reason for a 5 year old + tractor with only 60 hours.....thats is unusual.

I dont remember which FEL was on the one right off..

And I with RoyJacksons input, they probably werent as old as I thought.. I was thinking they went to the underhood exhaust in the 2002/2003ish..

Probably those are as unusual low hours as i thought..

thanks

Another perspective. Many tractor buyers are older men. Then, life happens. The machines don't end up getting much use. Then, one day, they get sold.

Most of us, by the time we get all the toys we want, we are running out of time. One of my neighbor's is in his 80's and bought a Exmark 60 in zero turn last year. His health is such that he has used it twice. He has a lawn service mow now. I doubt that the mower has 5 hours on it now. He told me that he always wanted one, so he got one!! Someday, there are gonna be a lot of really cool auctions in this country.

Low hours doesn't seem uncommon to me. Lots of guys buy more than they need for a specific project and when the work is done it gets little use. Also a point is the emotional aspect to getting older and finally buying what you want before you exit this life. Especially if someone grew up dirt poor and farmed with horses. The little 790 is a real worhorse only dreamed of when todays old timers were kids.

Anyway, I bought an '04 790 TLB two years ago with under 90 hours. Guy was in his 30's and bought it because he liked it and could afford it.

My dad has our (Im a co-owner) 790 and it had about 200 yrs on it - bought new in 2001 (30hp model). He only uses it for rough mowing, plowing a few gardens, and snow removal..
Just curious of the thoughts..

brian

God bless you and your dad, getting 200 years on a tractor shows longevity of an extraordinary nature. :)

The hour meter probably turned over like someone else said.
