My pleasure.
Just called down to the LWS for info and to get a number on a O/A or O/P cutting outfit (tired of having to borrow/ask others)
Guy I spoke to wasn't a fan of O/P, but was a fan of Victor torches. The price on the outfit wasn't bad ... but man, the price on the tanks was rude (twice the cost of the torch outfit)
Anyways, when I mentioned that one of my biggest interests was just being able to heat stuff up, he suggested I just pick up a propane weed burner for $50 (or less)
Great idea
Doesn't handle the need for having a cutting torch for cutting, brazing, etc., but it does handle the heating aspect.
Good guys down there.
Yeah ... I can't remember what I paid for the one 75/25 that I own but it sure doesn't seem as though it was all that much. Of course it was quite a while ago.Yep, bottles are costly. I've got seven. Bought them all at farm sales.
The outfit the LWS quoted on included the 100FC torch ... still need to research it and do my due diligence on it.I have two Victor torches. I think they are the Cadillac for the home shop guy. My large torch is Model H315FC. It's my go-to torch. A bit heavy and bulky but man will it cut!!!! The smaller one, can't remember the model, is handier for light work. Cuts fine, but is slower on thicker metal or with a rosebud tip.
I guess we're pretty lucky - we have three within 10 miles that I know of (Matheson Valley Gas, Praxair, and Airgas) ... there could be more.AirGas is the company that serves my area. They have an online site that I use sometimes. Their nearest store is 60 miles away.
The one bottle that I own was purchased from Airgas, back when I was just getting started.I'm not a commercial user, just home shop use. Last time I was in their store I was getting some expendables for my Plasma Cutter and some Welding Rod. I told the guy helping me that I really appreciated them treating me like "I was somebody". With a big smile he said "you are". I'm loyal to them.
