Guys, you should know that the air filters are made to be blown out with compressed air for cleaning. No need to replace them unless the paper is torn or gasket is torn. They will last for many years if properly cleaned. Correct cleaning technique is to start by gently bumping the filter on the gasket end on your tractor tire to jar loose all the loose dirt. Then blow from the outside for top to bottom to remove the majority of dust. I then blow it from the inside a bit to see if any dust comes out. The owners manual doesnt say to blow from the inside but I like to past a little air thru from the inside anyway. DONT get your blow gun too close as you can damage the paper if you have 100 PSI on your tank and get really close. I like to stay about 6 inches away with the nozzle tip;
Hey Gary,
Yeah, my manual says the same thing about cleaning the filter with compressed air, but as you can see from the side-by-side picture of the air filters that the original filter is still pretty dirty even after I cleaned it. And I'm just now up to 50 hours. Like SG, my exhaust vents just below the air intake and something sooty/black is on the filter, but I don't think it's too blocked yet. I'll get a spare to have around in case I damage the original or it blocks up.
