LS MT240E or MT342

Well , got there & had my mind made up for the MT240HE or the MTE345H. I did get on the the MT225E. Was cramped awful. I am 6'4" and weigh 260. That one was not really a serious consideration anyway. They did not have any MT240E on the lot. So tried the MTE345, was 8 speed shuttle. I could of lived with that one. Seat was horrible, would have replaced. But then got on a MT342 Shuttle with cab. That one was comfortable. Plus the fuel tank on the side will be easy for me to fill in my old age ( 62 now) . Appeared to have more user friendly 3 point hook up too, which for someone like me, might be better. So I figured I would go with that one without a cab. Well the MT347H was only 1200 more than the 42. So I ordered the MT347H , with a LS 6ft finish mower & a LS6ft tiller. He said I could get bigger/wider ones, but would not fit in my car port. So I done did it, gave him a deposit. He said could be here as early as february, but more like march. He was not rushing me and talked at least two hours and answered my questions. He said he has been selling LS for 11 years & has good luck with them. They are only 11 miles from my driveway to theirs. Thanks for all the input.

That's great! Glad you have a good dealer so close!

Not sure if it is too late to change your order, but the LS finish mower might not be a great choice.....

My LS dealer actually talked me out of buying one from him! He said they eat belts every season and the blades are proprietary and expensive. There are better mowers out there at 1/2-3/4 of the cost.

@ LS Tractor Owner, The 6ft LS finish mower was 2400 with discount. I probably wont try to change the order now, but what are the other mowers? If I have problems with this one I will try somethigng else. .Thanks for letting me know this.

I was out this morning and measuered the field I will be mowing, total 10.5 acres. ( not counting my lawn, which is 1.25 acres, I mow with a riding mower) But i will have some of that in food plots and might let some of that go.. Might need a bush hog b4 it is all over with. I have paid someone else to do this work for many years now. But I am retiring effective Dec 31. So i am making myself something to do,LOL..

There are many mowers out there, from Ag-Mier, King Kutter, Tartan, Etc...
I actually purchased a 72" finish mower from Betsco 2 years ago. I have used and abused it, cutting 10 acres where a brush mower should be used. I have actually cut 2' tall yuccas (tough as any 2" tree) with it.

It is a Chinese import, but Betsco stocks parts. I paid $1150 for it, delivered to my door in about a week. I figured I could buy 2 of 'em for less than some of the 'name brand' mowers.

They are having a "21% off" deal right now, good thru Dec 31st. Use coupon code 'dec21' (That's when I got mine on sale)

If you are cutting "fields", you probably don't want a finish mower. That is more for lawns...of course a lot depends on how you define 'field'. :)

I'm retiring at the end of the school year...my land will have little or no lawn. I have a few acres of utility easements that only get cut by them every 8 years...I'm getting a medium to heavy duty rotary cutter. I've got time to pick a brand on those...probably more about features per dollar.

Congrats! I am excited for you and a little jealous.

@Torvy yeah, I think the finish mower might be a litte lite for what I am doing. But I am wanting a better looking cut. the bush hogging alway looks so rough. Thanks & hope you enjoy retirement.

@LS Tractor Owner, that is cheap enough. Sounds like they are tough, if I need another one in the future will definitely check these out.
Thanks for the info.

Sounds like you should have got flail mower. They do tall pasture grass and light brush and leave a nice non bush hog look.

I seen those, but was not sure about them & they were expensive. If I live long enough, & my money doesn't run out, probably will try one. some day. Might see if i can rent one.

A light duty one is the same price of the finish mower you purchased. That will be built more than heavy enough if you can use a finish mower in the same spot.
