LS or TYM

If you have an independent tractor repair shop nearby, ask their opinion, as to which is easier to get parts for, and which they would rather work on.

The local tractor mechanic is who pointed me towards Jordans as a parts source. The previous owner had him work on the tractor i have a couple of times. He was vey impressed, that TYM covered the cost to rebuild the drive line between the engine and the transmission. The don’t have any recommendations in the manual to lube the joints, and they fail.

So, TYM covered the parts and shipping, on a ten year old, out of warranty tractor for the second owner. Which left the local mechanic, pretty impressed.

Why not a TYM T574? Mechanical injection and a non ECM engine that won't go into limp mode for 100 different reasons
I wouldn't mind taking a look at that model also. I have an LS/TYM dealer about an hour away, but he doesn't have the TYM models I am interested in on his lot.

Can you elaborate on the non-ECM engines? What are the laws regarding this? I am looking for my first tractor and I seen reference to emissions on a few posts. When is Biden going to make us go all electric? :)

I'm not an expert, but the TYM engine meets emissions requirements, but it does so in a way that doesn't make the tractor unusable if the diesel particulate filter (dpf) fails or is bypassed.

This article may help. Just for reference, Kukje was the parent company of Branson tractors. TYM purchased them a few years back and fully incorporated them into the TYM brand as of this year. The Kukje engine is now branded TYM, but it is still made by the same people in the same factories.

Thanks for the article. It explains a lot, like why I don’t see the huge plumes of black smoke that I used to see coming out of tractors and semi’s.

Been a long time since I have been on TractorByNet!! My 2006 Mahindra 3215 4WD has been a great little tractor but it is time to upgrade to a cabbed tractor. Looking at an LS MT468C, MT357C, or a TYM T654C. I have also looked at a Kioti DK6020SEHCB which may still be in the running, but it is more expensive than a larger LS. Does anyone have any experiences with any of these models? I will be baling hay with a small square baler, running a sickle mower (hopefully a drum or disc mower in the next couple of months), moving a few round bales, and some FEL work on 20 acres. The Mahindra was able to handle most of this work for a number of years, but it is time to replace the clutch and I don't want to invest a lot of money into it.
I bought a Kioti, didnt have TYM/Branson nearby to really consider. I thought I wanted an LS MT357 PCTC but LS would not/could not figure out how I could get one on the east coast. Supposedly, there were ”a few” sitting in NC but LS could not acquire tires for them.
I had a LS MT342 here for some upgrades and routine maintenance. It has a fuel bowl with a replaceable element. 2 dealers within an hour only stock the canister element and said it must be interchangeable. The cartridge doesn't show up on any LS inventory, the parts book shows the 2 different configurations. The dealer asked their regional for help, no reply. I called LS back in Jan of 2023 and sent email follow up. Still, no reply from LS. I have discovered that most parts are available (including fuel element) if you preface the part number with MT (40416089) and source through a New Holland dealer instead of LS.

I think the TYM T654 is a pretty sweet machine with a Deutz engine in it with passive regen for a Tier 4 system that appears to work REALLY well. And how close are dealers to you, if that is important to you?
The T754 is the one I would look at for the OP's application. Only ~$2K more expensive as well with a bit more tractor weight and loader capacity.

That Deutz engine should be a solid reliable option for the life of the tractor as well.

I actually went and looked at LS and TYM yesterday. The dealer did have a T574C and I really liked it. I am pretty confident I will go with TYM. I just need to decide on the T574HC or T654C. I know the T574HC will do everything I need at the moment and probably into the future. I currently bale with a square baler but even if I go with a smaller round baler the 574 would be fine. I can probably save $6K - $7K going with the smaller tractor. It would be nice to have more HP but again it is not needed at the moment, and I am not planning on getting more acreage.

The Deutz engine on the T654 would be the winner for me personally for what you are doing.

If I was making a choice for a new tractor
with Kukje 2.3L 4-cyl diesel or a Deutz
I would go with the Deutz in a heart beat!
I have been looking at the Deutz 5080D
contemplating if I want to grow some crops
