XG has fewer options included and uses the shuttle-shift transmission. XR has more standard features/options and hydro transmission.

Is there a difference between the XG and XR 3100 series?

The XG and XR are both available with shuttle or hydro transmission. The XR is the premium line with more standard features than the XG. The loader on the XR is a little stronger as well.

There may be some common parts but the parts manuals will be different between the XG and XR series.

I took the advise of one of the previous posters and talked to my dealer. I was able to get the pdf versions of the owners, service, and parts manuals for my LS tractor. Saved these to my desktop computer and also to my Dropbox so I can access them from all my smart devices. Another reason why I have such high regards for my dealer!

You can get the XG with hydro also. XR comes standard with dual rear remotes and XG does not.
