LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL

I have not experienced the way to often regeneration issues but it’s great to hear they may have finally found out what’s actually causing it to happen and how to fix it

@JCoastieThe DPF was getting somewhere around 550 Celsius, and after the update it's getting up to 630 or something like that. I can't remember the exact numbers. Since that update, the shortest regen intervals I had were about 35 hours.
Thats good for your DPF regeneration, but what did they change to accomplish this temperature change? The only knobs they would have to turn to affect DPF/exhaust temperatures is from diesel injection and combustion in-cylinder for your engine.

Not sure how carefully you track your tractor's fuel consumption, but it might be a little higher now!

I’m guessing the fuel consumption per hour will now be less, sounds like they didn’t turn nobs they updated the software to make it run better.

Lol, "knobs to turn" is a figure of speech meaning "what variables did they have available to adjust". Sorry, engineering speak I guess.

Updating the software to "make it run better", resulting in increased temperatures in the exhaust, can really only be done by adjusting the timing and/or quantity of fuel injections. You have more energy in your exhaust pipes now; where did it come from? Fuel. If the engine could run more efficiently this way, LS would have calibrated the engine that way from the factory originally. My guess is that they were working a balance of goals including fuel efficiency, emissions compliance, and DPF regen frequency. It's a complicated dance to calibrate a new engine and emissions control system; but if they shipped tractors with a 2-10 hour regen frequency, that can be fixed easily with a new engine calibration flash that bumps it out to 35+ hours, it's a pretty bad indictment of their engineering quality in the first place.

But to be fair, Kubota went through this same issue with their B3350 tractor. It's difficult!

Maybe the software is only modifying the normal injection timing, during a regen period only.

Still curious why a TYM will run 200-400 hours, or more, between regens, and other units are so much less.

Can't say for sure what was changed. As for the fuel consumption I haven't noticed anything different but I suppose even if it is a bit higher its hard to tell the difference, since the tractor going into regen all the time also ended up wasting some fuel.

Nice tractor! Andaste no combate ao fogo? Pela foto esteve perto.

I'm wondering if the software update is common knowledge at the dealership I have one of the every 12 hour regeners.

I would think so. I was told by my dealership that the new tractors being delivered are no longer coming with this issue.
