LS Tractor Floppy Bucket Syndrome?

Is it pump volume or pressure? Or open vs closed systems? Or types of valves? I have been told all. I subject you are right that the flow of the pump at low rpm can not keep the air out.

I can confirm it is a flow rate issue. I put an aftermarket 16cc pump on my tractor mainly because I wanted faster cycle times but as a pleasant side effect the bucket flop was eliminated. Not saying you should have to buy an expensive pump to make your tractor work correctly just that I'm certain that the flow rate is the issue. The factory pump cant refill the back side of the cylinder fast enough when you dump your bucket and it sucks air.

Well I only read the last page and the first 2 pages but I have no idea what “floppy bucket syndrome” might be, my LS bucket seems to work fine.

I am surprised that the OP's tractor doesn't have "fast dump". My XG3025 has it.... if you move the joy stick all the way to the 'dump' position, it dumps almost with no restrictions.... really fast -- like entire bucket fast. After this, it will have the 'floppy bucket' until it is cycled through again.

When I first got the tractor, I actually called the dealer because I felt there was some type of restriction on the dump position.... if you try and dump it slow, there is definitely a load put on the hydraulics and engine. Not a lot, just an audible change that it's under load.

I can dump 'normal' and no floppy bucket.... do it fast --- there it is swinging for a minute.

You need to install the orifice so they restrict flow out of the cylinders when dumping. On most tractors this is the rod end of the curl/ dump cylinders.

The restrictor helps prevent the bucket from free fall dumping.
